Record number: 2783 Title: They Got Me Covered (1943) Medium: Movie Actress: Phyllis Ruth Description: Axis spies are menacing America again, and it's Bob Hope to the rescue! About 75 minutes in, inept reporter Bob Kittredge (Hope) is trying to hide from the bad guys. He ducks into a storeroom in hears some rustling under a comforter. Pulling away the covering, he sees Sally (Ruth), a kidnapped stenographer, seated on the floor, cleave gagged with a white cloth, wrists bound separately to the feet of a radiator. Her ankles are tied together. When Bob bends down to untie her gag he hears the bad guys closing in, so he quickly recovers her and exits stage right, telling Sally, "I'll be back. Don't go away!" |
Sunday December 11 01:37:59 2005 Actresses who get the full treatment in a movie made after they won the Oscar |
The recent VCR Alerts entry for Marisa Tomei in "The watcher" (2000) mentions that it was done after she won her Oscar (My Cousin Vinny 1992).
Other than Elizabeth Taylor (tied and gagged in "The Flinstones" 1994, Oscars in 1960 "Butterfield 8, and in 1966 "Who's afraid of Virginbia Wolfe") and Claudette Colbert (tied and gagged in "The Palm Beach Story" 1942, Oscar for "It happened one night" 1934) are there any other actresses who had full treatment, ie, tied hand and foot and gagged, scenes after their Oscar winning performances ??? |

Sunday December 11 06:18:52 2005 Jenny McCarthy Ballgagged |
Has a video clip or clearer caps of the Jenny McCarthy ballgag scene from 'Singled Out' ever surfaced?
I have been searching for this for YEARS. I even appealed on a mainstream male bondage message board as her male co-host is in the scene too, but with no luck. Thanks |

OK, so we now have Elizabeth Taylor, Marisa Tomei, Claudette Colbert, Faye Dunaway, and Jane Fonda as Oscar winners who got the full treatment in movies made after they won their Oscars. Unless Brian's DataBase and IMDB are both inaccurate, Halle Berry (Oscar in 2001 for "Monsters Ball", full treatment in "Introducing Dorothy Dandridge" 1999) and Marcia Gay Harden (Oscar in 2000 for "Pollock", full treatment in "Fever" 1991) scenes happened before they won their Oscars. Handgags, shackled to something, being cuffed while/after being arrested, etc, don't count for this list. |

Sophia Loren won best actress for "Two Women" in 1961 and, according to the DB, had a full treatment scene in the movie, "La Pupa del gangster".
Vanessa Redgrave won best supporting actress for the same movie and had an intense full treatment scene with duct tape in the remake of "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?". |

I checked out the soap opera digests while waiting in line at the store. Most of it was endless tripe about Lauren's wedding, but there were a couple of interesting tidbits. One had Tracy Bregman saying her dress was so tight that her "knees were bound!" Is she foreshadowing a scene? There was also a flashback to a previous conflict between Sheila and Lauren. No bondage talk, but Bregman said she was pregnant during filming, so Kimberlin Brown made sure to take it easy on her during the fight. |

Sunday December 11 14:38:23 2005 Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada |
Just wanted to announce (for those interested) there's a bondage scene in the recent Tommy Lee Jones movie "Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada". Really cute lady -- played by January Jones -- is tied and tape gagged in an armchair. It's not a very long scene, but the ropework is rather special and there's some nice good-natured interaction between the damsel and her captor. |

Correct on Marcia Gay Harden, but Halle Berry also had a scene in Die Another Day after she received her Oscar. |

Saw that DB entry for "Die Another Day", but it sounds so lame and definitely not a traditional "bound hand and foot" scene. So now we have: Holly Hunter Diane Keaton Sophia Loren Vanessa Redgrave Anna Paquin Elizabeth Taylor Marisa Tomei Claudette Colbert Faye Dunaway Jane Fonda in the club of actresses who had full treatment scenes in movies made after they won Oscars. Anybody want to take a crack at the same thing using other major awards, Emmy, Tony, Grammy, etc ?? Off the top of my head all I can think of is Bea Arthur (Tony) and maybe Madonna (did she win a Grammy before her tied to the chair video ?) Anybody ?????? |

Not to worry. I've had marginal postings deleted as well. Most of us ol'timers have. :-) The thing that gets me about the Discussion Page "mission statement" is the conspicuous absence of phrases/words like "Damsel-in-Distress", "bondage", & "female". All it says is "scenes". Luckily, most of us have figured out that doesn't mean car chases and flower arrangements. ;-) |

I've made a file, so if anybody can think of any other Oscar winning actresses who got the full (hands tied together, feet tied together, and gagged) treatment in a movie that was made after her Oscar win, please post it here. For planning purposes, May 2006 should be a good time to update the list :-) Thanx to everbody who contributed to the list !!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Sunday December 11 22:42:11 2005 BIEL News |
The BIEL (Bondage In Everyday Life) site is being reorganized under new leadership (sounds like Clemm turned the reins over to several people rather than trying to run the whole thing himself).
So, hopefully, there should be an update to the "Trussed Thespians' section fairly soon. Which means that there should be fresh pics of DID scenes from plays themselves, as well as from media articles about plays and movies. |

Sunday December 11 22:52:28 2005 The Howling on DVD |
A funny thing...I just received The DVD of the original The Howling from NetFlix, with the intent to upgrade the copy I recorded off VHS probably 12 years ago (in EP speed no less). Well, when I got to the part with Dee Wallace in the porno booth & the baddie plays the stag film of the girl getting tied up & raped on the bed, the scene was rather heavily edited. In fact, there were only 2 scenes of her tied & gagged, once when she's initially gagged, and another scene wihich showed a guy with a stocking on his head raping her and we see a quick medium shot of her tied on the bed & gagged. Then it goes to the part where Dee turns around & faces the badddie...no more scenes after that.
I thought it seemed very short so I dug out my original copy I got off VHS & there are at least 4 more shots of the girl after being gagged, including one nice close up, all missing in this DVD I just got. It did show 2 shots of the girl being stripped naked on the bed, including full frontal nudity, so it wasn't like this was the version that airs on TNT or anything, and the DVD was rated R. Is there an unrated version that was on the VHS but not on the DVD? I was just rather shocked to find that this scene shredded so, especially in the fact that the cut out scenes weren't really all that explicit, nudity-wise...just more bondage shots. Anyone else have this happen to them, or have any ideas? All I can think is that there must be an unrated version and an R-rated version, botht of which contain full nudity but one of which (the R-rated one) cuts out most of the rape, & therefore the bondage, parts. Either way it sorta sucked. |
