I too am interested in examples of such editing wrongs, especially when they may have been righted by DVD and/or online streaming. All the better to make sure my own clips aren't missing anything too critical.

Knight Rider is a perfect example: "The Topaz Connection" is out on DVD and as streaming video on both Netflix and Hulu, and as far as I can tell, the infamous broadcast edits have not afflicted any of those versions.

Checking my clip against the Netflix stream just now reminds me that I'm missing the rescue sequence, in which the Hoff lifts a groggy Ms. Michaels out of the would-be Death Truck for Cutie. But hey: at least I didn't neglect that all-important Grocery Speech.

P.S. I fixed up the DB entry to reflect the fact that our damsel is never bound during the truck sequence: she's just very, very sleepy.

Thanks for posting the clip - great work as always. And as always much appreciated. I just wish the director hadn't chosen to shoot the entire movie in super Law & Order cam with MTV-style editing! This scene SHOULD have been a classic: hog-tied & duct-tape gagged cute damsel, bonus belt-around-the neck action, multiple shots at multiple angles & distances with excellent lighting - but all shot in ultra-blurry hand-held style with short attention span quick editing to make it even more annoying.

Why, dagnabbit, why?

Upon a second look, don't think she was hog-tied. Not that it makes much of a difference; it's still a good scene that could have been great! Thanks again, Raffish!

I beg to differ, she was definitely hog tied lying on the bed. Could plainly see the tie wraps connected to her ankles. This was evident in the preview clips posted on Video page a week or so ago. Couldn't tell in the SUV as there were no good shots of her feet. Same in the fire truck.

Yeah, that was pretty much my reaction all the way through, with respect to wasted potential on multiple fronts. It's all the more disappointing in that Renny Harlin has a decent resumé as an action director. (Let's not forget "Die Hard 2," or Geena tied and dunked in her undies in "The Long Kiss Goodnight." Even "Cliffhanger" was a brilliant, compared to this.)

WOW! That was QUICK!!! Of course it had to come from one of the masters of DID clips! : ) Thanks for posting the complete clip Raffish!!! From your clip, sec :11 to :42 was exactly the missing link. Thanks a ton for completing the gap!

My pleasure. I'd almost forgotten just how awesomely eighties that scene really was.

GI Joe
Anyone else have high hopes for the GI Joe movie this summer? Looks to be a standard Hollywood action flick, with plenty of gorgeous women. The whole espionage aspect leads me to believe that we might get a scene or two.

And let's not forget that Joe has produced scenes in the past. For example, heres a classic scene with the Baroness that I hope the directors decided to pay homage to:

I sure hope we get a few scenes from GI Joe, especially since I remember scenarios at least where Agent Scarleet gets herself kidnapped by Cobra.

One Life to Live
Didn't watch today, but the promo for the week is up on youtube on the video page. Three shots of Starr (Kristen Alderson) tape-gagged. Looks like a wraparound. Spoilers indicate scene will be Friday, and also appears it might be a quick scene.

April 13, actually, according to both the official site and the IMDb. (Not sure why it's on Monday instead of the usual Sunday.)

Life - Sarah Shahi
Promotional stills for the April 8 episode of "Life" on NBC show Sarah Shahi bound to a chair with duct tape. Unfortunately, no gags in sight. She also looks quite pregnant in some of the stills, Looks like a body double in the picture 7 of 11 (the second picture below).

Oh, please let their be a gag. Would make up for the lousy TV season so far. Also, this could be the final episode, since this show is likely canceled.

The good news is she's held hostage for the entire episode, and the stills show the cops busting in and finding the chair empty. So good chance she'll be gagged at some point in transit.

I hope you're right. She is a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader; if she was to be bound and gagged then she would join the ranks of the former professional cheerleaders who have been bound and gagged during their acting careers.

And more specifically, she would join Bonnie Jill Laflin as a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader who gets bound and gagged in her post-DCC entertainment career. Maybe they will get super cutie Melissa Rycroft next!

I've heard this, and I vaguely recall consulting her IMDb profile for corroboration, but couldn't find any helpful information. If she was a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader, then it was only for one season. You might try to locate an online archive of Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders rosters.
