| @3:30pm CBLFT Chapeau Melon et Bottes de Cuir (1998) aka Record number: 4907 Title: Avengers, The (1998) Medium: Movie Actress: Uma Thurman Description: The big-budget version of the classic cult series from Britain has one strait-jacket scene with Uma Thurman as Ms. Peel, about an hour into the film. The jacket used is very nice (canvas-and-brown-leather with neck, wrist, and 2 crotch straps), but it's not tied very tightly, and the scene itself is only about 30 seconds long. |

Record number: 513 Title: Avengers, The (1961) Medium: TV Series Actress: Diana Rigg Description: Episode: "The Positive/Negative Man" (5.22) Emma Peel is captured by bad guys who can harness the power of electricity. They shock her into unconsciousness and bring her back to their lair, where she is bound down to a table. She is forced to record her voice, making it appear to Steed on the phone that she is summoning her. Then they stuff a wedge of cloth into her mouth (actually, it's more like Ms. Rigg bites down on the cloth), encase her in tin foil from head to foot, and charge her full of electricity so when Steed touches her, he will be electrocuted. When Steed arrives, he follows the sound of Mrs. Peel's loud moaning (a lot of it!) to find her under wraps on the table. The criminals didn't count on Steed wearing rubber galoshes, and he releases her--but not before some playful taunting of her as she moans beneath the foil: "Mrs. Peel! I'd recognize those eyes anywhere." "Mmmppphhfff!" is her reply. This is a fairly long scene, but the bondage and particularly the gag are weak. Ms. Rigg gives it her all with the moaning, though. |
