Mankiewicz classic drama from 1950. Near the end of the movie, the bad guy, Richard Widmark, and his deaf mute associate, await her in her flat in order to give her a lesson (this violent racist thinks she's much too friendly with an african-american doctor he especially hates). Wearing skirt and heels, she is first grabbed from behind as she returns home. Quick scene, dark light. Widmark does the talking, his brother the handgagging. Then comes the great moment: after Widmark has punched the girl in the stomach, he asks his brother to put his hand on her mouth, while he speaks to her (she is now seated). There comes one of the best handgags in movie history: a lenghty scene in close-up, excellent lighting, with beautiful facial expressions of distress from the lovely brunette. She looks at Widmark, frightened, turns her head back, with the hand of the other guy still firmly clamped over her mouth. Truly, this scene belongs to the hall of fame! |

While catering a murder-mystery night things get a tad too real for our DiD! Dressed in a kinky French Maid outfit she is grabbed by the villain and handgagged by his white gloved hand.The scene is prolonged, well lit, and with good facial close-up/reaction shots. Her policeman bodyguard saves the day and the villain is apprehended. But her troubles are not over yet! Shortly thereafter she is kidnapped by a seemingly harmless male friend who harbours a secret obsessive passion for her. He renders her unconscious with a chloroform soaked pad before slinging her over his shoulder. She awakes to find herself upstairs in her own attic, which her admirer has turned into a romantic den.She is lying on a couch bound hand and foot, hands in front, with rope.Alas, she is not gagged at any time. During the subsequent gloat/exposition her captor massages her bound feet. This scene is prolonged and well lit. When her policeman bodyguard/boyfriend crashes in and rescues her, her captor insists that "it was just a game and she wanted it this way." |

Her lover pulls her panty hose off and uses it to bind her hands behind her back. She is then thrown in a small elevator, where she escapes through a hatch on the top. Takes her a few times with her hands still bound. She escapes from the elevator and runs around a big mansion with her hands still tied. She eventually comes across some wire hangers in a closet, which she twists into a tool that pulls her bonds free. She's kneeling in the closet, trying to break free when she is discovered. Although her feet are never tied, this is also a great scene for barefoot lovers. Scene begins about 1 hour, 19 minutes in (without commercials) and lasts about 4 and a half minutes. She's wearing a tight white sweater and a short skirt. Lots of struggling by her. Good scene, if a little dark. |
