Record number: 866 Title: A Life Less Ordinary (1997) Medium: Movie Actress: Cameron Diaz Description: About 99' in (with ads), Ms. Diaz is captured by the bounty hunters her father has sent after her. (They're actually angels sent to earth to bring her and her lover [Ewan McGregor] together, see the movie). She's handgagged briefly during the grab. She is next seen bound to a chair with pretty orange rope, her mouth sealed with nicely-applied duct tape (Prop persons: It can be done), a white cloth blindfold pushed up above her eyes. She mmmmphs and talks through the gag as she plays blackjack (and keeps winning) with the male angel. Later he pulls the blindfold down, and though she's ungagged a little further on, she remains sightless. She ends up bound, blindfolded, but ungagged in the trunk of a car, where she's discovered and released with about ten minutes left in the film. Earlier, about 20' in, she's shown being tied to a chair with a strip of cloth about her midriff, right after McGregor has abducted her (partly with her help, see the movie) and driven her to a remote cabin. She's bound to the chair at the arms and legs with more cloth. Around the 62' mark, there's a scene where McGregor, Diaz and the angels/bounty hunters meet for a ransom exchange. He ties her hands in front, and she remains bound for a few minutes. |

After being taken captive, the bad guy talks with David Hasselhoff for the exchange rules; when Hasselhoff answers the phone and says "Where is she?", the bad guy says to one of his goons: "Gag her." Kathy is then handgagged hard in an extreme closeup as scene fades to commerical. When action resumes, Kathy is shown gagged with duct tape, from a bit of a side angle while sitting. The bad guy puts his revolver under her chin, and lifts her head up with it. Kathy's eyes spread wide open in a nice shot. Later, Kathy is shown still gagged from the opposite profile while standing up before bad guy takes her away again. Later, Kathy is shown from a medium-range shot leaning over sitting on crates in a van, still gagged with hands tape-tied in front. Other bad guy enters the van, and Kathy leans up and glares at him. After a scene shift, camera cuts back for the finale: Kathy still gagged in an extreme closeup. Bad guy then rips the tape off as Kathy grimaces. His first victim (Lane) is leaving for work when he bursts through her door and throws her onto her bed. He ties her in a lower-half spreadeagle with pantyhose and cleave-gags her. Just as he's about to unbutton her blouse, she gets a phone call from a male neighbor who heard her screams. When she doesn't pick up the receiver after her answering-machine greeting, he says he's calling the police, which scares the rapist off. Later, Forke's character is asleep in her underwear, face-down on her bed. She awakens to find the rapist standing over her. He shoves her back down and pulls her arms behind her, then ties her hands with a cloth strip. Still later, another actress is accosted by the rapist after letting him in on a ruse. He hand-gags her and throws her down, then gags her with a white sock and ties her hands in front. Next, he holds a thin black strip of cloth over her as if he's going to secure the sock gag with it, but blindfolds her with it instead as the scene ends. |

She talks to the bad guys for a while before they decide to gag her with the tape. She mmmphs and wiggles while the bad guys pour gasoline on her. One bad guy kisses her tapegagged mouth at one point. She escapes by taking a small piece of glass and cutting the tape that binds her feet. She gets up and starts to run out of the room before the bad guy grabs her feet & pulls her to the ground. She reaches up to tear off the gag. Eventually she falls down the stairs, most of her bonds torn off. She's OK |
