Saturday November 05 00:31:43 2005 USA Today |
A couple of things in the Friday thru Sunday edition of USA Today, both in section E "Weekend" on page 1.
First in the upper left corner is a picture of Emily de Ravin getting handgagged in the new version of "The Hills Have Eyes". Then at the bottom of the page is a review of the upcoming CBS miniseries "Category 7: The End of the World". The scathing review contains the following lines . . . "7 makes way for any number of time-filling crisis. These include murder, kidnapping, adultery, poisonous frogs, government skullduggery and two misguided evangelists." Now it doesn't mention who's kidnapped but it's probably worth keeping an eye on. Part one airs this Sunday and part 2 airs November 13th, both at 8:00pm Central. |

Didn't see a scene report on this, so I'll just mention that it wasn't one for me: Carla Gugino gets slugged in the face, and wakes up bloody, with one hand cuffed to a pole. Shown for a bit at the show opening, and again at the end. |

Now that I've watched thru the entire tape, here's the scoop. The damsel is standing on the beach, wearing green shirt, blue denim jacket, and jeans. She is chloroformed by 2 guys and carried off. Next we see her being tossed into one of those big clothes baskets at the nice hotel, bound and gagged with what appears to be masking tape. One or two more shots of her under some clothes, with her gagged face just peeking out as the clothes basket sits in the hallway of the hotel. Then comes the scene where she is on the bed. Old guy frees her. At the end of Friday's episode (Univision 2PM ET - on DirectTV- 402), she is again bound and gagged with the masking tape while lying on the bed. Promos for Monday show her halfway covered with comforter on the bed still bound and gagged with masking tape. |

In his words. "[1] Even though this clip is huge (over 1/2 hour), the video quality is quite poor, for a DVD release." |

I'm not sure what I'm trying to acheive with this, but it is getting kind of annoying. I add stuff when I cap, but haven't had much time for that lately - that isn't the best way to do it either because you get episodes out of order in the db which makes it a pain to look through (stargate is a good example of this, the entries that have been entered in the last month or so are from seasons 4,9,1,9,1,6,9 (and I'm going add another 9 soon, but it is a scene before the last 9, so you can see how it is a bit crazy.) This is kind of a big deal, because if we forget to add an entry, some of these scenes can be lost to us for years before someone catches them in repeats (nobody tracked smallville last season and it was only after I watched it during the summer that we found out that there were several scenes) I know some people are kind of bitchy when it comes to the registration thing, but it isn't like brian sells your emails to spammers. Even a short entry like "about halfway through the episode, she has her wrists tied behind her" lets people know that there is a scene and someone will likely follow up on it eventually and fill in the rest of the details. |

Saw a preview of next week,s episode, and while I did not see any rope It looked like the new female star(and male jerk "Denoso" were captured while possing as married assassins and tied to chairs back to back. Not expecting much for us, but the episode looks pretty good. |

Spent some time fooling around with imageready and threw the first few pages of asbestosfilter.com up. I'll add more later, but there are some caps up there right now.
A really high res clip from "Raiders of the lost ark" is up there that I'm sure some of you will set as your background or something ;) Hopefully this all works for you, if you get an error message relating to bandwidth, please email me. I'm probably going to switch to another host becausethe ftp server for 90megs is slow and buggy as hell. It is free though, so I suppose I can't complain too much. |

Saturday November 05 10:32:48 2005 Scenes in Books |
A couple of months back some of you gave me suggestions for books with scenes to read on my vacation. You were very helpful. As payback, and in the spirit of contributing to our common interest, I have found a couple of others for your reading pleasure. (I just hope I am not repeating anyone's earlier descriptions.)
"The Empty Chair" by Jefferey Deaver has a lengthy scene in the beginning (gag included), when a boy kidnaps a young woman and flees the police with her thorugh the swampland. Other scenes are scattered throughout the book. One maddeningly tantalizing one describes the main female character being left hogtied. Unfortunately it is only mentioned, but not described in detail. "The Land of the Living" begins with a 60 page description of a kidnapped woman. She is bound and gagged, with a wire around her neck. She manages to escape. Later she seeks to rescue another similarly tied victim, and she confronts her captor. Both of these books are interesting reading even without the scenes. I hope you readers enjoy them. |

Yes, the female lead is gagged with white tape wrapped around her head by another woman. Saw it in one of the trailers for the movie linked here a week ago. |

Saturday November 05 15:05:09 2005 Ezine ramblings |
I've been considering solutions to the ezine situation. Basically, people want to see new ezine content, but trying to get an "issue" full of new articles was laborious and the level of contribution from the readership was often insufficient and I ended up creating too much of the product.
To address this, I've been trying to come up with something that would require less editing work from me and provide more frequent updates with smaller amounts of material. Some of the ideas I've been kicking around: 1. Getting rid of the concept of the issue altogether. Replace that with a menu of articles and dates, so people can see the newest ones when they check. I'd go and disassemble the existing issues and make those articles available as a start. 2. Devise an automated article creation program. This would be form-based, and allow the following: a. Uploading of images (sizing to fit zine standards) b. Placement of headlines, text blocks and images, captions c. Preview of the article as it stands, so the person could work on the article until satisfied. d. Submission of the article to me for approval/editing/placement. This would require registered users of course. 3. Ads. I wouldn't be adverse to giving a free placement ad to the person who contributed the article, although probably many of the contributors would have no need of such a thing. However, it might encourage the people with resources such as caps to take the time to put together an article. They're often busy too. This could be discussed. I'd like to get feedback on whether people would be willing to contribute to the ezine if I come up with this system. I don't want to spend the time to do it and have it go unused. Let's also discuss what sort of articles people like to see. You may want to review the past issues and see what we've had before, but also feel free to suggest other types (describe as completely as possible). Multiple forms might be necessary, so I need to have a good feel for what people would be contributing. |

One comic bondage I've never seen discussed here: Nancy once is musing on the literal meaning of phrases, and 'I'm tied up at work' produces an image of a woman (drawn realistically, not in the Nancy style) well tied with black cord. It's in one of the Nancy reissue books. |
