| 'The bonus features on the new Blu-ray include new interviews with Neeson and McDormand. In revisiting Darkman, McDormand talks about being a feminist and developing her character as a professional woman with Raimi. "She wasn't your classic ingénue in a comic-strip film," the actress says. "He wanted her to be ballsy and brash and able to take care of herself. "Unfortunately any girl — unless you're playing the action hero — is going to end up at some point handcuffed, gagged and waiting for the hero to save her." She felt an obligation to the role that, even when gagged with tape, she wasn't whimpering and weak. However, she admits now that she made a big mistake in not fully embracing her damsel in distress in retrospect. "It didn't really make any difference if I had a job," McDormand says. "I was still the damsel in distress."' |

| I saw a promo for a Lifetime movie that's airing tonight at 8:00 called "Killer Coach" which showed a quick shot of a Black actress who looked to have her mouth duct taped. |

Bad guy pulls a gun on the mom about 1:45 into the movie, when next seen, she's on the floor, tape-gagged, feet taped. Struggles a little. Female friend rings doorbell and hears her knock a lamp over and frees her. I would have preferred the daughter in the scene, and this female doesn't do much for me, but not a bad scene if you like this damsel. |
