Thursday October 17 06:08:32 2002 English "translations" of titles |
Over the past several years, when I've edited foreign language entries that did not have English aka titles, I've added a rough English translation of the movie/show title or the episode title, when possible. I just noticed that someone has been deleting at least some of those translations -- Gute Zeiten, Schlecte Zeiten (Good Times, Bad Times) is the one of immediate concern. Any of youse guys have a problem with this practice? I thought we had agreed this was an allowable practice.
I should note that a recent entry (#7954) for a Dutch soap operat entitled Goede tijden, slechte tijden could also be translated as "Good Times, Bad Times", which is how I noticed. |

"Any of youse guys have a problem with this practice?" Myself, prefer to hunt down the actual English title, as many of the translations are wacky. You're aware Diana Rigg had a bunch of scenes in the Bowler Hat & Go-Go Boots series that aren't in the DB? ;) How about recent Top Modeles for The Bold And The Beautiful soap? This why ID'ing actress important to me, as only thing that remains consistant. Normally ID everything else proper if we get that. |

"I've added a rough English translation of the movie/show title or the episode title, when possible. Recall that when putting the TV Series in a standard format, did check into and edited a few of them. Idea being, it would get everyone to center on entering similar and checking IMDB if not sure. Hasn't really worked out that way though huh? :) Suggest if you do this in future, just let me know so's I don't touch it. thanx |
