Common I have trouble myself with searches,(Google.ca etc), due to different style spelling. Fortunately, I live with someone who raised in a republican area where Yank style spelling taught. Realised spelling Yank style normally gets better search results. Ok, let's see if we can come up with some instruction changes or examples that would help our searchers and contributors. |

Maybe the most common mistake (with every search engine) is using too complicated search phrases. I know this is not new to you, but some "general search rules" or even the simple "keep it short" may be useful. Seems you can't say that too often. Like in your examples:
> > > Title: The Last Yellow > > > > Title: Last Yellow, The (1999) > > > > would both come up in the search. > Rule: Drop the article (in this case: search for "last yellow") > > Same with > > > > Title: Walker, Texas Ranger > > > > Title: Walker: Texas Ranger > Rule: Keep it short. I tried to prove this and entered "texas" only. Came up with 34 entries. Of course there is the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" stuff, but 24 out of 34 are from Walker TR. I don't think Brian you should make it your job to teach people how to use search engines. But providing some examples for those who are willing to learn sounds a lot easier than reworking your search engine. |

And loose your prime source of info on

You'll have to increase your ego significantly to fill that gap :) Seriously, Per had numerous warnings about inapproprate behavior in the past. I told him to stay away from AG, I felt it had a bad influence on him in the other forums. I'm sure we'll figure out a way to limp along without him. |

From the other forum: Programme: Wildbach Time and Date: 9:05 / Dienstag 3.12. Channel / Kanal: ARD Got everything there to search on & sort out. Where with this recent Asian series Armed Reaction, same Country-Date-Channel info would really help narrow it down. Going by Asian message boards, appears Singapore may be airing a different season than Taiwan? etc etc etc. This why I'd like to encourage posting alittle more detailed on Discussion Page. |

> > Only 2 in the data base > > Sins Of The Mother > > Primal Scream > > Do you know the 3rd episode? > I missed the ep title but last weeks ep had a blonde > guest star tied to a chair and tape gagged. "Having problems with epguides.com" Whilst on this, anyone else or just me? This the episode I favour: ep: "Split" (1.7) "Helena warms to the enigmatic stranger when he explains his history with the Crawler---a nefarious criminal with the nasty habit of murdering his abductees. When the fiend kidnaps an innocent teen, the crimefighters must race against the clock to ensure that the latest victim doesn't meet the fate of her predecessors" Lynne Syracuse ... Annie Wersching Ponytail Girl ... Samantha Streets |

That snarkers on TVWoP assisted abit here: ep: "Split" (1.7) "Did That Shapeshifting Alien Bounty Hunter Guy ever open his mouth on The X-Files? I don't remember. But here he has an intimate dinner laid out and he's pouring wine. His voice all gravelly, he says, "Isn't this romantic?" Amy -- bound, gagged and whimpering -- apparently doesn't think so." |

The ep split with the Crawler is definatly the right ep. Hard to tell about the girl cause I wasn't paying much attention to her before she had the tape on her face but she got her ponytail cut off by the Crawler and left as a taunt to his other personality so the character name ponytail girl fits. |

Thursday November 28 23:58:36 2002 Re: Rework- Search Suggestions? |
This database is still in work. Please let me know of any problems. A couple of new features: 1. Case sensitive searches. I wouldn't recommend this, since some people didn't pay much attention to the case in their entries. Actually, all the entries have been sorted now, so perhaps?: IMDB standard for Data-base entries, suggest searching as appears in IMDB. 2. Match all fields. This is an AND search, to help narrow down to exactly what you want. The entry in every nonempty field must match. Figure this may be reworded to search tips? 3. Display the most recent X number of entries. This DOES NOT work in concert with the Search feature. Figure I'll try later to bring up that Sub-string advice, and word it in some way. |
