Record number: 3980 Title: Blackbeard the Pirate (1952) Medium: Movie Actress: Linda Darnell Description: The lovely Ms. Darnell plays Edwina Mansfield, seemingly a damsel in distress on Blackbeard's pirate ship, to whom there's much more than meets the eye. Henry Morgan tries to lure Blackbeard into a trap by filling a merchantmen with scores of his soldiers. Just when Morgan is getting the upper hand in their ship-to-ship slugfest, Blackbeard plays his trump card -- he orders Edwina Mansfield (Darnell), Morgan's niece bound to the mizzen mast taffrail. The plan works and Morgan breaks off the attack. Lots of shots of the lovely brunette bound with her arms spread in a four o'clock and eight o'clock position. Close-ups show a single thick rope was looped around one wrist, across her body and then looped around her other wrist and tied off at both ends; not a very convincing tie at all. Scene starts about 75 minutes into the film and lasts for a minute or two. |

Sasuke and his girlfriend Omiya (Misako Watanabe) are surrounded by the bad guys and she is taken away. Sasuke manages to escape with the help of a mysterious man dressed all in white. He then goes after the girl. At minute 63 he finds her in a warehouse completely covered by a quilt, as he removes it we see Omiya cleaved gagged with a white cloth. She is bound with rope, with her hands behind her back and a rope on her chest above the breasts. She is fully dressed and has passed out. Sasuke removes her gag and wakes her up only to momentarily hand gag her so she won’t scream. Sasuke then cuts her ropes with a knife showing us that she was also tied around her ankles. |
