That c movie with dennis rodman This actress would've been Natalia Cigliuti, a stunningly beautiful brunette with a nearly perfect face. |

Of course we love soap scenes as they're the best kind. The actresses are always beautiful, the scenes have that 'live' video look plus the time frames are always pretty long. You won't get scenes like the marathons with Stephanie Cameron or Martha Byrne in a TV series or movie. |

And the damsels always look perfectly made-up. You won't see any bruises or blood like with the CSI or Criminal Intent type TV series. Plus there's pretty well always a happy ending unless the actress's contract is up |

And seeing actresses like Demi Moore B&G before they hit it big |
Tuesday November 18 15:56:01 2008 La Jessica still lookin' real good... |
I think most will agree that the set of Jessica Alba pix linked below is well worth a look. The New Mom's holding up just fine, IMHO. Several of the pix -- #'s 02 and 08 in particular -- would seem to lend themselves to some pretty spectacular fakery, as well. |

(And *no*, I'm not > > > posting an alert. I'm making a point.) There > hasn't > > *been* any Sword & Sorcery fare worth mentioning Y'know, I really want to argue a contrary position to the notion that they just don't make sword and sorcery/sword and sandal movies the way they made "Deathstalker" and "Barbarian Queen" back in the 80s, but I'm having trouble because all of the actual evidence in on your side. I thought about all the sword and sandal movies, TV movies and miniseries since "Gladiator" -- Troy, Alexander, The Arena, Age of Treason, The Odyssey, HBO's Rome series, Helen of Troy, Arabian Nights and several others I can't remember offhand, and they've all performed miserably with regard to the two major opportunities for DiD action, i.e., actual DiDs and slavegirls. Helen of Troy and Troy both had a kidnapping as the central motivating factor of the plot and I think one series botched it entirely (no bondage) and the other did a miserable job on the bondage. And the slavegirls in sword and sorcery films since the 80s have been dressed in either dowdy rags or flowing robes that covered all or most all of their bodies, and they haven't been in visible bondage of any kind. I don't think this is the product of a conspiracy of any kind, I think it's a product of the stoopids and maybe the sort of films we've had to date. That is, most of the sword and sandal flicks we've seen have either been A-list films -- Troy, Alexander, Beowulf -- or they've been films aimed primarily at a family audience, like The Odyssey, Arabian Nights and Helen of Troy. The A movies would not be all that oriented toward DiD movie (nor would they be all that prone to avoid it) and the same holds for slavegirl imagery. That said, you have to wonder why they didn't hold out a LITTLE slavegirl fantasy/fetish imagery for Dad (and Mom, if truth be told) as they USED to do in the 50s when, in most every movie, slavegirls or harem girls made an appearance. That's where I think the stoopids come in. With regard to the family movies, of course sexy would be a no-no on general principles. My hope is for the B-movie exploitation like Roger Corman's Deathstalker, or some indie movies willing to take more risks. Of course, Arena is a Roger Corman B exploitation movie that screwed things up left and right, but that's another case of the stoopids. I don't think there's a problem among filmmakers with bondage imagery, not with scene like Heather Matarazzo's nude, gagged, bound, upside down suspension in "Hostel 2" or Cameron Richardson in pretty much the same setup in "Rise: Blood Hunter." A half-naked DiD or slavegirl in chains seems mild by comparison. |
