>>>>> The Moderator Wrote: You'd better figure a way to organize your content. You posted a link, and first thing on it was a political diatribe.<<<<<< Look, I was off this board for a day or two and missed all of this nonsense. Had I seen it, I would have been the first to hammer anyone commenting here on MY political stuff, which not only breaks a big rule of yours, but makes absolutely no sense since I have the means for people to comment all they want on my site. It was NEVER my intention to cause you any extra work or grief, and believe me when I say I never even considered that anyone would do what they did, and so for THAT I apologize. All that said, you not only deleted my post, as usual you get all snarky when there's no need. All you had to say, to me, was "Hey Vince, how about not posting any updates to your site here when the top blog concerns anything political, because we have some goofs who can't follow the rules properly and it's causing me extra work?" Was that so hard? Apparently so, and therefore I MUST respond accordingly: It was a slow week for DiD stuff, big week for political stuff. It just worked out that way this time. But let me get this straight... you deleted my update post, even though I NEVER mentioned politics or anything close, because some goofs commented on it here, rather than there? Seems to me you should be mad at THEM, not me, but hell, I'm illogical that way. BTW, just to be clear, it's my site, so I'll "organize my content", the way I want, when I want, got it? Now, back to the issue: I posted a link to my blog site, in which I comment on DiD's, politics, football, and pretty much anything else I care to comment on. That's the same thing I've done on every site I've ever had, and you've never had a problem with it before. If you want change the rules in mid-stream that's your right, but don't act like I did something new that's never been done before, because we BOTH know that's not true. >>>>>As I've made it very clear, this will be a politics- free zone.<<<< And God Bless you for it. That's why, and here's where I'm confused, I NEVER MENTIONED POLITICS IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM, IN ANY OF MY POSTS HERE. >>>>>People have the privilege of posting updates, but only to the extent that I approve. Your link was not acceptable, and will not be as long as it leads to such content.<<<<< Whatever. My site has DiD material on it, and will have a lot more very soon. You SHOULD know that. When I have I ever NOT commented on damsels? I think, in this case, your board got out of hand and so you blamed ME, even though I posted NOTHING political or even close HERE. I've always said, your site, your rules, but I think you're just mad because some morons felt the oddly idiotic and illogical need to comment HERE on MY blog, rather than just go THERE and comment, which they are perfectly free to do. And hey, to everyone who posted HERE about MY political rants, WHY? You KNOW the Moderator has NO sense of humor about this sort of thing, dammit, and I post a link to my bog EVERYTIME where everyone is free to slam or agree with me at their will. Now, you brain-farts have the Moderator and I squabbling for no real reason other than he over-reacts and I refuse to allow anyone to go off on me, especially when I feel I'm in the right, uncontested. |

The problem is that the Internet is just that - an international communication system - and readers of this page are all over the world. In some countries, notably Germany, a linked site is legally considered to be an extension of the site in which the link is posted. This notion may eventually be extended to other countries. Thus, if a link posted here leads directly to a political statement of whatever kind, some legislatures may assume that Brian's Page, in accepting and hosting that link, is politically biased. The solution is to have separate sites, or clearly marked subdivisions, for DiDs, politics, sport or whatever. A link posted on a DiD site like this one should lead only to the topical portion of your site. You are then presumably free to post links within your own site to the political and sport sections, so that readers may take them or leave them. The crucial factor is choice. |

Writers and directors who use a stuff gag know it can be spit out but it's not incorrect, to them, to use one in the context of the scene. They know, for the story line, a victim who can spit it out won't, because to her a stuff gag is a warning from the bad guy to not make a sound and if you spit it out I will harm you. Of course it's a shame they think this way because it does ruin a good scene for most here. |

>>>>>Mad Dan wrote: >>>>>The problem is that the Internet is just that - an > international communication system - and readers of this > page are all over the world.<<<<<<< Dan, I can't respond... here anyway... as fully as I would like as that would break the rules, which, believe it or not, I completely respect. What I can say, is that while I can't speak for anyone else, I think the problem lies not with that particular subject, but the fact it's an off-topic subject period. My point is that, for one, I didn't post anything off-topic. I didn't ask for comments, or in any way do anything that could have led to this problem. For example, what if I, or someone else, posted an update notice that featured a current hottie in full treatment, yet that update led directly to a some people starting a thread on, say, age, or something else that's always been off-topic? If that happened, obviously the thread posters are at fault, but how is the updater at fault except in the most extraneous way? Also, and this is my second point, it's not like this is the first time my sites have included material that would be off-topic here. Heck, my sites have ALWAYS included material that would be off-topic here, yet I've never had a update notice deleted before. I don't even mind THAT. What I mind, and I always have, and I always will, is the irritating rudeness the moderator uses in situations where it's uncalled for. When it's necessary, great, but in this case it wasn't, at least not with me. |

That is part of any responsible moderator's job, and I speak as a moderator in Yahoo groups. It's common sense. Just suppose that a site to which you host a link starts to show illegal or grossly offensive material, and you haven't kept an eye on it. Admittedly that's rather unlikely, but if another site attracts the attention of the authorities, they will want to trace the paths leading viewers to it and may take an unwelcome interest in your site. |
