I have a reference book (A. Marburger's book, mentioned on this site's front page of the database) which writes that there was an earlier scene where she was seen being tied in the movie.

I have Marburger's book (mine is copyright 1980), and the exact entry is:

"When the Clock Strikes (1961) – An unidentified actress is shown being tied up in a Danish modern stuffed chair and gagged with a rolled scarf tightly tied in the corners of her mouth in Movie Star News stills. She is wearing a checkered skirt, cardigan sweater and upswept light hair. The Villain is tying her ankles. The story is a complicated and confusing crime melodrama in which…
…Possibly the actress pictured is Merry Anders, the first billed female lead, though it has also been suggested that she is Eden Hartford, who had a bit part as a waitress in a New Mexico café."

I omitted only the plot synopsis between the ellipsis. He also used to send out xerox copies of corrections, with the book, and the entry for the movie merely confirms the actress as being Merry Anders.

It is clear from the entry that he had never seen the movie, let alone the scene in question. His description comes from the same photo which I linked to yesterday. (For the youngsters among you, Movie Star News was an agency that used to sell movie publicity photos to fans, and specialized in bondage scenes. It was owned by Irving Klaw, who also produced and marketed bondage photos during the 50s & 60s).

Just to be clear, I'm not saying that the capture scene doesn't exist, just that I've never seen a copy of it myself, and can't find any evidence it was ever in any cut of the movie. It might be on the cutting room floor along with Linda Darnell's scene in "Two Flags West" or Suzanne Pleshette's in "The Power"

I saw that play when it was in Washington. (Wish I'd had binoculars). The play (unlike the movie) has a nice long scene where she's assaulted by a group of guys and carried all around stage, and she's gagged the whole time. (The assault is a choreographed stage-type assault, and the whole thing is more like a dance than a rape.) However, I've never seen any photos of it.

I have the same edition book, and it is a good reference for scenes. Having said that, I've found - sometimes with the help of other readers on this site - that the book is not always super accurate.

As for this particular movie, I never saw it previously either, so don't know if any tieing/gagging ever existed or not. But, it just seems odd that a b/g actress would "show up out of nowhere" - with no lead in/explanation. (Or, maybe I'm just guilty of wishful thinking...)

Alphas
In the promos for upcoming episodes this season, Azita Ghanizada is shown strapped down to dentist-like chair and someone tightly clamps their hand over her mouth. No idea if she's going to be gagged or which episode.

She was given a lengthy handgag as well as a full-treatment in Season 1.

It's curious why the chick with the power to control people with her voice hasn't received a gag, however, there's another evil Alpha with the same powers this season so maybe one of them will get it.

I've been wondering that myself, especially considering her character is otherwise bitchy and useless (why did they bother adding her back to the team/bringing her back?).

No complaints though, given the choice I'd choose Azita over that skank for a scene. Azita makes the perfect classic-style damsel in distress. She has a better style of clothing for it too :)

Danger Theatre is based on Blogspot, not Tumblr, but it still has plenty of stuff you may like, including pulp fiction covers, comic covers and DiD fiction.

I have this movie in it's entirety (by that, I mean I have the whole movie and not just the bondage scenes....). I have a copy I got from a company specializing in old movies and I believe it's from 16mm. I also have a copy I got off one of the Roku channels (not Hulu though...maybe Crackle?), and both just have the bondage parts we have all seen....just the one shot of her in the chair & getting untied...not scenes of her actually being tied up or gagged.

Now, I am not saying the two prints I have are uncut or not edited in any way, just waying that I have the whole movie from 2 different sources and neigher shows any additional bondage foootage.

One fanboy nit: After being ball-gagged for more than two hours (plus the hours they were unconscious), would Jane, Kate, Olivia and Dana REALLY have wanted to have to open their mouths wide for Katz's Deli thick pastrami-on-rye sandwiches? ... :-)

Pity, because Merry Anders was gorgeous, and it would have been nice to have gotten some more footage of her predicament. Unless somebody here can remember another scene during the original theatrical run, that probably puts an end to the speculation.
