Are there any similar scenes where the damsel is forced to strip and stand by the window? |

(Possible Minor Spoilers... nothing big in my opinion) I know bound and gagged damsels are rare in video games but I was playing AC: Brotherhood over the weekend and there is a mission that has multiple points in which ropes and gags would have made a ton of sense. At the beginning of Sequence 4, a female ally (Caterina) has been captured and is being held by a female villain (Lucrezia). Lucrezia pulls Caterina (hands bound behind her back) out of a wagon to parade in front of some villagers. The two clearly hate each other and at almost right away Caterina starts yelling to the people. Lucrezia tells her to shut up and smacks her across the face but only seconds later she starts yelling some more as some guards dragged her away into a castle (first place a gag would have made sense). You have to infiltrate the castle to save Caterina and while scaling the walls you sometimes will come to a window and view a scene. The first scene shows Lucrezia talking to her brother about how Caterina has quite the mouth on her and she wishes she could sew it shut (more reason for a gag). I was hoping I'd get to Caterina's cell to find her bound and gagged but when you get to another window you see her unbound and Lucrezia enters her cell and the two exchange some more insults before Lucrezia hits her in the leg (once again saying she is sick of her mouth) and leaves with the key to the cell. I figured I would have to assassinate Lucrezia to get the key but instead the game instructs you to take her hostage. Now, you are in the middle of an enemy castle with a feisty, mouthy enemy as a hostage so it would make perfect sense to bind and gag her so she could not alert anyone. Instead you grab her from behind, put a knife to her throat and say something like "Call out and I'll remove you tongue." Pretty serious threat, a gag would be much easier. The worst part is she pretty much immediately starts talking, making insults and threats and even calling out to the guards who, despite you having a knife at her throat attack you without much hesitation. You have to let her go to kill the enemies and then chase her down and tackle her as she runs to escape, making an even stronger case for you to tie and gag her. Worse, after dragging her for a while she will occasionally elbow you and escape your grip, making you have to chase her down. This happened to me about 2-4 times. You'd think after that an elite assassin would know he should do something to keep it from happening... but no. Finally, you get to Caterina's cell. I figured this was the last possible chance since the plan was likely to leave Lucrezia in the cell while you make an escape. It would make decent sense to tie and gag her to give you more time to escape. Moreover, it would give Caterina a chance to get some revenge for insulting and hitting her. Plus, after having to deal with her constant talking and escape attempts I think most players would be happy to see her get a gag to shut her up. Instead as soon as you push her into the cell she screams once more for the guards and Caterina says "That's enough out of you" and hits her over the head (which I guess does make some sense as it is quicker than roping her up). Has anyone else played the game and if so, were you as frustrated as I was? |
