Record number: 1053 Title: Xena: Warrior Princess Medium: TV Series Actress: Lucy Lawless, Katrina Browne, Renee O'Connor Description: Episode: "Locked Up and Tied Down" (#4.7)(1998) In an episode clearly intended to pay homage to the women-in-prison exploitation flicks of the early 1970s, Xena (Lawless) is arrested and clapped in irons early on for a murder she committed during her "evil" period which is shown in a flashback during her trial. She tied a young hostage (Browne) to the ground in an upper-half spreadeagle at the water's edge of a subterranean sea inlet, leaving her to be devoured by flesh-eating crabs. Sentenced to life on Shark Island, a women's prison, she comes face to face with the warden after leading an unsuccessful revolt and discovers to her astonishment that she's the woman she had left for the crabs, who escaped after they chewed off one of her arms. To exact revenge, the warden orders Xena hogtied with chains and thrown into a rat-infested pit. Soon afterward, Gabrielle (O'Connor) shows up in the guise of a healer, and winds up on a scaffold with her hands tied behind her back and her neck in a noose after blowing her cover trying to rescue Xena. |

@1:00am BravoC Record number: 2190 Title: The Thief of Bagdad (1940) Medium: Movie Actress: June Duprez Description: Back in the days when Technicolor was a special effect, Prince Achmad (John Justin) has been blinded and cast into a dungeon as a captive of the wicked Grand Vizier Jaffar (gee, where have we heard that name before?). He meets Abu the Thief (played by Sabu), son of Abu the Thief, grandson of Abu the Thief who helps him escape and go on a series of adventures involving genies, flying horses, flying carpets and a beautiful princess (Duprez). What the beateous Duprez sees in that wimp of a prince eludes me, but they get captured by Jaffar and are bound spreadeagled in a dungeon. At the end of the film, Duprez is led out onto a parapet with her wrists bound behind her, before Achmed finishes off the evil Vizier. @9:00am Showcase Record number: 2839 Title: Sweating Bullets/Tropical Heat Medium: TV Series Actress: Janet Laine Green Description: Episode: Abandoned (2-12) Locked inside a cottage on a resort, Janet appears to be hogtied on a bed. She is cleave-gagged with a blue and white bandanna. @Noon Space/Imagination Record number: 3178 Title: Xena: Warrior Princess Medium: TV Series Actress: Hudson Leick, Renee O'Connor Description: Episode: Callisto (1-22) A woman, Callisto (Leick), whose village was destroyed by Xena sets out to assume the Warrior Princess' identity and revive her bad reputation. Xena captures Callisto and binds her wrists and arms tightly behind her back. Later, Callisto escapes and captures Gabrielle, hanging her by the neck from a tree. Gaby's wrists are not bound so she desperately tries to take the weight off her throat by pulling on the rope. Some nice scenes of her kicking while suspended off the ground. |

Record number: 1239 Title: The Four Musketeers (1974) Medium: Movie Actress: Faye Dunaway, Raquel Welch Description: In a flashback scene about 20 minutes into the movie, Milady de Winter (Dunaway, or possibly an uncredited stunt double) is shown from the side, tied in an apparent standing upper-half spreadeagle to a frame on a scaffold, being branded on her left shoulder as a public punishment. About 20 minutes later, Welch's character is shown chained hands-over-head to a wall when one of her captors comes in to feed her. She kicks him after he undoes the shackles and runs to the window, only to find a pack of dogs waiting for her under it. Several minutes later, she tries the same thing when someone else comes into the room, only this time it's one of the Musketeers, who's come to rescue her. Near the end of the film, Milady gets her comeuppance, being led to a boat by a masked executioner with her hands tied behind her back (the bonds aren't shown, but Dunaway does a convincing job of pretending they're there if they aren't.) |
