Record number: 228 Title: Just Cause (1995) Medium: Movie Actress: Kate Capshaw, Scarlett Johansson Description: Towards the end of the movie, Capshaw and her onscreen daughter (a very young) Johansson are forcibly led through a parking garage and into a car by the bad guy. Sometime later, as hero Sean Connery approaches a shack located in the Everglades, he sneaks around the porch and looks over a low window sill. From that vantage we are shown a medium-range view of Capshaw bound to a chair, hands tied somewhat loosely behind the chair with hemp rope, bare feet unbound (the dim lighting makes it difficult to see), and cleave gagged with a thin strip of white cloth tied tightly between her teeth and knotted in the middle. We then get a pan-up shot of her desperately looking around and struggling in the chair, her upper body all sweaty from the effort (and most likely the heat). Connery then bursts into the cabin, much to the squealing consternation of the bound captives. We now see that Johansson is sitting across from Capshaw at the other end of a table, gagged and bound to a chair in the same way. Capshaw gag-talks to Connery, "Get this out of my mouth!", whilst Johansson looks on in terror; her gag is even tighter, having been pulled extra-taught against the corners of her mouth and teeth clenched over the knot. She nonetheless stays quiet throughout the scene and we are never shown any of her bonds. After Capshaw is ungagged, both she and Connery try to reassure Johansson that everyone will be alright. But before he manages to untie Capshaw, the bad guy suddenly barges in and grabs her at knifepoint. He and Connery remain in a stand-off, with the latter shielding a still-gagged Johansson in his arms. Some heated dialogue ensues, with Capshaw now being held at gunpoint. After about 2mins, both guys get into a fistfight. Neither damsels' release is shown, but they come to no harm. The scene is dimly lit throughout, with mainly close-ups of both damsels' gagged faces and only the one full-body view of Capshaw. Both are wearing knee-length dresses; Capshaw's is blue, Johansson's is white. |

In a bit of good-natured hazing., they all are cuffed with their hands behind their backs as though they were under arrest. They are then informed of their rights, including the right to “get out of these handcuffs any way you know how”. Various scenes of working out of the cuffs follow. In addition to this opening, Sandy (actress unknown) is cuffed behind back at the midpoint of the episode. Finally, Andy (Missy Peregrym) is forced to cuff her own hands in front by the episode's teen perp near the end of the episode. She eventually picks the lock and frees herself. |

Record number: 488 Title: The Big Hit (1998) Medium: Movie Actress: China Chow Description: China Chow (a beautiful eurasian model) is restrained in various ways beginning at around the 32' mark (with commercials). She wears a schoolgirl outfit -- plaid, pleated miniskirt; starched white dress shirt and tie; and cute little white shoes. She is kidnapped by a gang that includes the benevolent Mark Wahlberg. The gang binds her hands behind her with silver handcuffs, and she is handgagged during the initial scene. After this, her ankles are tied with a white towel, and she is cleavegagged with another strip for a ride behind the back seat of an SUV. Mark ends up keeping her at his house in the suburbs. When they arrive, he cuffs her hands in front around a pole in his basement. Later, he moves her to another house, where he tries to keep her hidden from his fiancée and her parents. Her hands are cuffed behind her and her legs are tied, so she hops around the house mmphing through her towel gag in several scenes. Mark finally puts her in the back of his SUV, parked out of the way in the garage. He accidentally conks her on the head with the hatchback as he closes it. While he is otherwise occupied, the family takes it out for a drive, never noticing the unconscious China. When they return, Mark wraps her in a sleeping bag and hides her in the house while the family leaves again. He ungags her, so she can help him cook, and then cuffs her hand to his so she will be more effective. Sparks fly, and they start to make out, when, alarmed by a possibly innocuous comment (this is one amoral story, so who knows) he makes about "something so beautiful having to die" (along those lines, at any rate), she tries to escape. She is bound and gagged as before and thrown into the small trunk of his Firebird. We don't see her again until Mark goes for a car chase in the Firebird. She is released at the end of the chase. |
