Record number: 595 Title: Artists and Models (1955) Medium: Movie Actress: Shirley MacLaine Description: After MacLaine finishes one of her stage performances at 1hr 26mins, she is dragged into a dressing room and handgagged by a group of scheming men and a woman (Eva Gabor). Once inside, MacLaine mmpphhs away as they restrain her in the dark. A minute later the lights have been turned on, showing her sitting on a chair, wrists and forearms bound to the armrests with strips of white cloth, another strip encircling her waist against the backrest, feet unbound, and cleave gagged with one more cloth strip. She struggles and mmpphhs furiously as they go about stripping her of her stage outfit (a sparkly blue leotard) and give it to Gabor to wear instead; MacLaine now only wears a skimpy blue low-cut teddy (lots of cleavage on show), blue pantyhose/tights and high heels. The scene continues at 1hr 33mins, whereby she has knocked over the chair and is on the floor, still tightly bound to the chair and writhing around with all her might, as well as grunting with effort behind her gag. Offscreen she manages to get back up to a sitting position, move herself and the chair over to the door, then use her mouth (still with the gag between her teeth) to turn the doorknob. As the door opens she bounces out of the room on the chair, and is discovered by a man and woman who untie her. When the man ungags her, she is majorly pissed off and whines "Where's that dame?! She stole my clothes!" One of the most energetic damsel performances you'll ever see! Total scene time is about 35secs. Besides the initial handgagging/capture sequence, the lighting is excellent; typically bright and vibrant for that time period. We see mainly full-body views of MacLaine during her struggles (including lingering, gratuitous views of her teddy-clad butt); the only proper close-up occurs when she is ungagged. |

She's then placed in a (VERY roomy) packing case (they must have been planning to ship elephants) to be shipped (to Caracas, Venezuela, if memory serves). After she's seated in the packing case, her wrists are tied to what look like chair arms built into the case. |

Record number: 2993 Title: The Invisible Man (1958) Medium: TV Series Actress: Lana Morris Description: Episode: "Death Cell" (2.2) Ellen Summers escapes from a mental institution to seek the Invisible Man's help in proving her fiancee is innocent of the murder for which he is awaiting execution. The bad guys want to see him dead, and Ellen is grabbed and returned to the institution (not shown). About eight minutes in, we see her in her room secured in a straitjacket. She is then over the mouth gagged and about to be injected with an appropriately evil substance when our hero intervenes. She is freed after a scuffle, only to be handgagged and spirited off by a leather-gloved assailant around the 14' mark. Nothing of note follows, unfortunately. |

Record number: 3472 Title: The Invisible Man (1958) Medium: TV Series Actress: Marla Landi Description: Episode: "The White Rabbit" In this episode, the VERY attractive Marla Landi is captured in a long white rain coat, has her hands tied behind her back and is over the mouth gagged with a narrow white cloth. Her feet are not tied, and she is 'dragged' around and man-handled by the villains (including the female lab assistant). She doesn't emote much, but looks great gagged - There's a fight at the end and Marla has to run for cover, still bound & gagged, and hide behind a desk. The gag is eventually removed by the invisible man himself (you see it 'float' off her mouth). It's a typically low key 1950's-type scene but is strangely sexy (I think), thanks to Landi's sultry euro-look and the fact that she is held by the arm by the female villain for a while. |

Showing the idiocy of leaving a damsel untied, Suzy gags Lucia from behind with a scarf, puts her in an armbar while still keeping her cleave gagged and calls for her father where they then tie Lucia to a chair hands behind and make a run for it. |

Record number: 5 Title: Starsky and Hutch aka Starsky & Hutch Medium: TV Series Actress: Dianne Kay Description: Episode: "The Psychic" (2.13) She's the daughter of a football team owner, and strolls down her driveway about seven minutes into the episode wearing her school uniform (a white blouse, black cardigan sweater, plaid skirt and saddle shoes). She stops to chat with an acquaintance sitting in a van parked at the curb. An accomplice grabs her from behind, hand-gagging her and dragging her to the back of the van. About eight minutes later the kidnappers arrive at a junkyard, where, now with her hands tied behind her back, her ankles roped together, and wrap-gagged with a white cloth, she's shown being carried in another baddie's arms to an old delivery truck in which she'll be killed when it goes into the crusher unless she's found in time. One of the captors pulls her gag down to mess around with her a bit. The other protests, and he replaces the gag. The abductors bid her farewell at about 25 minutes. The outcome, of course, is up to the episode's title character who tries to divine the victim's location from a picture of her at about 34 minutes, resulting in a brief shot of her roped ankles and another of her writhing and struggling. He tries again at about 51 minutes, just before the truck is loaded into the crusher, which begins a sequence of furious struggling scenes. |
