The son isn't too willing to learn, he'd rather just paint. This fascinates a band of renegade Cherokees who grab him and leave the lovely Calf Eye (Gayle) in trade. Dan'l pursues the Indians. When he spots their camp he binds Gayle to a tree, cleave-gags her with a bandanna and causes rocks to be thrown at the camp using a delayed-action sling shot. When the braves investigate the source of the rocks, they see Calf Eye bound and gagged; they then go off in pursuit of Daniel, leaving the Indian maiden still tied and helpless. Action occurs just after the 30' mark (with commercials) |

They later figure they've been hornswoggled because a railroad is coming through town, and in retribution decide to make her "the woman of the family". The sequence starts immediately before the second commercial break, about the 18' mark, as she's handgagged and spirited from the hotel. Immediately after the break, she's shown arriving at her captors' homestead in their buckboard, her wrists bound behind her and overgagged with a dark bandana. She is ungagged on screen by the eldest brother (Peter Whitney) who explains that she will marry the youngest brother. When Micah and Lucas suspect foul play and travel to the farm to investigate, one of the brothers handgags her and drags her into the barn where there are several cuts to her struggling to alert them to her plight, which she does by wresting a hand free to strike a hanging bucket. This last scene starts around 25' in. |
