Record number: 1426 Title: Tower of London (1962) Medium: Movie Actress: Sandra Knight Description: Roger Corman's take on the saga of Richard III, with Knight as a royal court member consigned to a dungeon by Richard (Vincent Price) in an attempt to convince her to denounce as illegitimate the two nephews that stand between him and the throne. About half an hour in, Richard enters the dungeon and walks over to the pillory Knight is locked into. She's initially shown in a tight shot from behind, her blouse torn open and her back creased with whip marks. Price walks around to the front of the pillory, and, after a few seconds of taunting, orders her taken to the rack, where she's laid out barefoot in a rather revealing slit skirt, and shackled hand and foot. She comes to an unhappy end. |

Record number: 848 Title: The Raven (1963) Medium: Movie Actress: Olive Sturgess Description: In this Roger Corman horror satire, she plays the daughter of Vincent Price's character, which is why she ends up tied to a pole in a dungeon cell next to Price, Peter Lorre, and a young Jack Nicholson. She's untied and taken out of the cell at the behest of the baddie (Boris Karloff) and locked into a pillory, where Karloff menaces her with a hot poker to convince Price to reveal the secret of his magic powers. The actress is also handgagged twice, both times by Jack Nicholson: once on a wild stage-coach ride in the first half-hour, and then again in a friendly grab in her mansion room somewhere in the middle. |

Record number: 6955 Title: High Crimes (2002) Medium: Movie Actress: Ashley Judd, Amanda Peet Description: Around the 50' mark (with ads), there's a brief shot of Amanda Peet tapegagged during a home invasion. Scene lasts only a few seconds. I couldn't tell how she was tied (the intruder may have been disturbed before he had time to secure her). About nine minutes from the end, the real killer ( I won't give away the twist) grabs Ashley Judd, firmly clamps his hand over her mouth, and drags her into the house. He then ties her arms behind her back and hogties her. The hogtie is not tight (her knees not bent much), more incidental as the same length of (telephone?) cord used to tie her wrists behind is also used for her ankles. She is able to roll off the couch where she was tied and across the floor towards a gun that was dropped during the final fight. She manages to work her hands free just in time to get the gun and save herself. The scene is dark and the cuts are quick. She's wearing a bathrobe and white socks. |
