Record number: 21 Title: Ulee's Gold (1997) Medium: Movie Actress: Jessica Biel, Christine Dunford, Vanessa Zima Description: Earlier in the movie, in the first half, 30-something mother Dunford is tied down to a bed with sheets, ungagged, while she is going through severe withdrawal of a drug that the bad guys kept her strung out on. Scenes of her strugging against the bonds ensue, with family friend Connie Hope (Patricia Richardson of the TV show "Home Improvement") having to inject her with a sedative. At around 85mins the three Jackson women, teen daughter Biel and pre-teen daughter Zima, along with Dunford, are being held captive in the living room of their home by a pair of bad guys out to extort Ulee Jackson himself. After one of them asks "Got any duct tape, Mr. Jackson?", he responds with a stone-faced "Sure". The very next shot opens with a panning close-up of the 3 damsels each having their feet and hands wrapped multiple times with duct tape to chairs, then cuts to a close-up of Biel being gagged onscreen with duct tape wrapped at least 3 times very tightly around her mouth (she even rolls her eyes back during this sequence, such is the realism). The panning shot continues as we see Zima and Dunford also sporting similar wraparound duct tape gags, but they have both only received a single wrap offscreen--considerably less brutal than Biel's. Doe-eyed expressions from both of them, but all remain silent and docile. As their captors leave the house, the lights are (infuriatingly) switched off. In the darkness we can still just about make out the 3 damsels, with Biel attempting to free herself by energetically rocking her chair back and forth. A while later, upon being discovered by Connie, the lights are turned back on and we hear some rather quiet mmpphhing. We're treated to a final panning shot showing Dunford, Zima and Biel, all still taped to their chairs and gagged as before. Biel, however, has struggled so much that her chair is now tipped over onto the floor on its side. The scene ends with a full-body shot of Biel, who mmpphs quietly just once. All are released offscreen. Total length of both sequences: 1min 17secs. |

After an escape attempt, her hands are duct taped behind her back for a short period of time, and her ankles are taped together. She lays barefoot on the floor while getting a lecture from her captor. Dark scene, and its hard to make out the ankle restraints. Occurs 22 minutes into the movie. |

Shannon is tied to a chair hands-behind (no gag)with the bomb in her lap. A fire extinguisher is used to freeze the timer so that the hero has time to cut her loose. After she is freed, he finds the villain with Carly, who is tied-AOH and OTM-gagged with a dark cloth. While the hero fights with the bad guy, Shannon uses a high caliber rifle to break the chain holding Carly. Carly then frees herself, and throws the bomb which had been tied to her at the villain. |

Just before the tape is ripped off, Mr. Meanie kisses her sealed mouth. During the opening titles there is a 10 second clip of all the angels doing their take of the "Angels In Chains" episode. |

Record number: 1900 Title: Batman (1966) Medium: TV Series Actress: Diana Ivarson Description: Episode: "Flop Goes the Joker" (2.58) Baby Jane Towser (Ivarson) encourages the Joker's artistic tendencies, but the Joker decides that he'd make more money stealing paintings by Jackson Potluck, etc., then actually painting them. In the last fifteen minutes (according to my old notes), he binds and cleave gags (over-the-hair) the deliciously overacting Ivarson with thin dark cloth, the better to pull off his nefarious crime. The gag comes off at one point so she can answer Joker, but later goes back in place. Eventually the evildoer carts her, still bound and gagged, off to Bruce Wayne's mansion, but Batman and Robin are on the scene to rescue the misguided lass. One of the better late Batman episodes. |

Record number: 4581 Title: The Rifleman Medium: TV Series Actress: Patricia Blair Description: Episode: "Lou Mallory" (5.4) Lou Mallory (Ms. Blair) buys the North Fork Hotel from a family of four male hermit types. They later figure they've been hornswoggled because a railroad is coming through town, and in retribution decide to make her "the woman of the family". The sequence starts immediately before the second commercial break, about the 18' mark, as she's handgagged and spirited from the hotel. Immediately after the break, she's shown arriving at her captors' homestead in their buckboard, her wrists bound behind her and overgagged with a dark bandana. She is ungagged on screen by the eldest brother (Peter Whitney) who explains that she will marry the youngest brother. When Micah and Lucas suspect foul play and travel to the farm to investigate, one of the brothers handgags her and drags her into the barn where there are several cuts to her struggling to alert them to her plight, which she does by wresting a hand free to strike a hanging bucket. This last scene starts around 25' in. |

First the bad guy uses a bandanna to cover her mouth and takes her away. There is a brief struggle. Next, inside a house, we see Ximena waking up (although the use of chloroform is never shown). She is sitting on a chair, hands tied behind and cleave gagged with the same red bandanna. She looks helplessly to her captor. Unfortunately the gag is removed rather quickly, but the shots of Ximena gagged are OK. She remains tied for two scenes more, in which we see her ankles are tied to the chair also. It could have been much better, but you don't get to see a Miss Universe winner bound and gagged every day! |
