Record number: 528 Title: House of Wax (1953) Medium: Movie Actress: Phyllis Kirk Description: Remake of "The Mystery of the Wax Museum" with Kirk as a young woman whose roommate (Carolyn Jones of "Addams Family" fame) has disappeared, and who also has become the object of the obsession of a fire-scarred wax sculptor (Vincent Price). Suspecting he has used her roommate's body as a form for a figure that resembles her, she sneaks into his museum after hours and is accosted by him after confirming she was right. She faints after striking him, causing the mask hiding his disfigured face to fall away, and awakens to find herself nude (this, of course, is only implied) and clamped at the wrists and ankles to the bottom of a large tray, which he will soon fill with molten wax. She spends most of the rest of the movie screaming her head off and struggling as the good guys try to find their way to her in time. Action occurs in the last 15 minutes (with commercials) |
