Record number: 68 Title: Gilligan's Island Medium: TV Series Actress: Dawn Wells, Tina Louise, Natalie Schafer Description: Episode: "How to Be a Hero" (1.24) Gilligan is depressed over his failure to rescue Mary Ann from drowning-- the Skipper saves them both. Later, Gilligan sees a headhunter on the island, but no one believes him. However, the other castaways decide to disguise the Skipper as a headhunter and allow him to "capture" them so that Gilligan can become a hero. Unfortunately, Gilligan overhears the plan. Meanwhile, the real headhunter captures Mary Ann, Ginger and the Professor. The Howells find the threesome tied hand and foot to stakes. Frond (!) gags cover their mouths, and despite mmpphing for all they're worth, they are unable to warn the millionaire and his wife that the headhunter is behind them. It's a brief scene, but it features a long shot of the three of them-- Mary Ann is wearing her trademark short shorts, and Ginger is wearing a form-fitting dress fashioned from some item from the Minnow ("S.S. MINNOW" is prominently displayed on the skirt) in the background. In a later scene, two more stakes have been added, and Gilligan discovers the five captives tied up. The Howells have not been gagged, but they are unable to convice Gilligan that this situation is anything other than a trick. The real headhunter returns, and Gilligan "plays along" in a mock fight scene. During the shenanigans, there is a close-up of Mary Ann, and several shots in which she is prominently featured, writhing at the stake. (Ginger remains only in long shots.) Finally, the Skipper (disguised as a headhunter) shows up, and Gilligan realizes the truth in time to send his foe into a handy campfire. After everyone has been untied, Mary Ann can be seen holding a loop of the rope. This is from the first season of black-and-white episodes, subsequently colorized, and begins around the fifteen-minute mark. |

At the 35' mark or so (right after the commercial break, in the late-night airing I saw), a soldier discovers a doctor and nurse (Ms. Storms) tied back-to-back, bound with thin tubing and gagged with translucent cloth tape (her lips are visible) wrapped around their heads. The second scene lasts all of 48 frames (I counted). @7:00pm Space/Imagination Record number: 1496 Title: Relic Hunter (1999) Medium: TV Series Actress: Tia Carrere Description: Episode: "Thank You Very Much" (1.5) Sydney (Carrere) and two guys are ambushed by an ex-Stazi agent while searching for Elvis' guitar. One of the guys binds Sydney's wrists to the arms of a chair and several loops of rope are wrapped around her chest to secure it to the chair's back. At one point, the bad guy orders Sydney be tied tighter and the guy apologizes to her as he puts more pressure on the ropes. She's tied back-to-back with one guy, while the other guy is also tied to a chair in front of her. The evil ex-commie releases snakes. @10:30pm YTV Record number: 3165 Title: Big Wolf on Campus Medium: TV Series Actress: Natalie Vansier Description: Episode: "The Exor-Sis" (1.20) Becky (Ms. Vansier) had the bad luck of getting locker #666, so she is transformed into some kind of demon (the make-up department gave her skin a greenish tint and messed up her hair). While wolfboy and his friend talk about what to do she is in the background working out of her ropes. She is lying on a bed with her hands tied to the headboard and her feet are bound together. No gag. |

Record number: 5385 Title: Gene Autry Show, The Medium: TV Series Actress: Gloria Talbot Description: Episode: "Gypsy Wagon" (4.7) Ms. Talbot plays Herelda, a beautiful gypsy who, along with her father, are kidnapped by outlaws (played by Myron Healey and Sandy Sanders) because she witnessed their robbery of a payroll courier. She's surprised in the back of her family's gypsy wagon and her wrists are bound behind her back on screen. In the next scene, she's shown loosely detective gagged with a light colored bandanna next to her father who is in a similar predicament. The bad guys harness horses to the wagon and spur them to certain doom (they're supposed to make their deaths look like an accident, which is why they left their victims tied and muzzled, no doubt), so there are a number of cuts to the well-developed brunette struggling to escape from the bouncing wagon with her best attributes jiggling in an enticing manner. They're rescued by Gene, of course. Action occurs about twenty minutes into the episode. |

When Sam won't reveal the source of the new vein of ore he's discovered, Ox binds Sam and his lovely daughter Peggy (Riley) to the mine's entrance beams and lights a fuse to cans of blasting powder. As usual the masked avenger arrives in a nick of time. Further as usual, Sam's bonds include numerous ropes rapping around his arms and torso, while there's only the suggestion that Peggy's wrists are tied behind her back. |

| At the end of today's episode (9/9/02), the very attractive heroine is trying to save her attractive female friend who has been knocked out with a blow to the head and is lying in the backseat of the villain's car. Our heroine is captured and, on screen, her hands are tied behind her and a somewhat sloppy cloth gag is tied over her mouth. It is likely that the scene will continue tomorrow.
