A few minutes later, we find her in a warehouse, tied to a post with her hands above her head (nice ropework!) and cleave-gagged with a black bandana. Lots of whimpering, moaning and struggling, as her ex-husband shows her the time-bomb with one hour on the clock. 40 minutes in, Catherine Martell (Piper Laurie) enters the warehouse and find Shelly tied up. Shelly struggles and mmmphs desperately. Catherine walks over to her and says, "I can't understand a word you're saying. You have a thing in your mouth." The bomb then dentonates, but the women escape in time. This episode is available on video. |

He doesn't do all that good a job of it, though, and she is quickly able to free herself once he leaves the room, in a sequence featuring closeup shots of her wrists. She isn't gagged. |

Record number: 11881 Title: The X-Files Medium: TV Series Actress: Gillian Anderson, Cec Verrell Description: Episode: "Lazarus" (1.15) 25 minutes in, Scully finishes cuffing Cec Verrell's wrists behind her back when her partner (Jack Willis) goes nuts, takes away her gun, tosses Scully a pair of handcuffs and forces her to put them on at gunpoint. We see a nice closeup of Scully putting the cuffs on (wrists in front) Right after a commercial break, you see Scully sitting on a floor in a house, cuffed, wrists in front to a radiator. Her lip is cut. 30 minutes in, there is another "3 minutes worth of Scully in the same position. During this time, the kidnapper calls Mulder, hangs up and then has a somewhat heated discussion with Scully. 38 minutes in, you see Scully still cuffed to the radiator, sleeping. By this point, her wrists actually look a bit raw, Jack wakes her up and starts talking to her and then goes crazy again. Lasts about 2 minutes. Couple more scenes with Gillian at 41, 42.5 minutes before she is rescued. Scully is wearing a tan pantsuit. Miss Verrell is wearing a red sweater and jeans. The scenes are fairly well lit and there are quite a few closeups of Scully's cuffed wrists. The cuffs are also not loosies. All times without commercials. |

Your standard "scream" scene is about 6 minutes in, but you don't see anything until a short flashback about 24 minutes in w/ commercials. A few more short flashbacks with the bad guy using a wire hanger as a whip and then a short rescue scene. By 27 minutes, it is all over. She is bound with her wrists behind her back and is gagged with a while cleave (looks like a towel). You don't really see the bindings, but the gag looks pretty tight. Thirteen years later (1 hour 20 in the movie) her character, now Famke Janssen, has her hands tied in front with maybe the same rope, in the back seat of a car and later standing near it, and frees herself with her teeth (dark scene). |

| Title: The Lake (1998) Medium: TV Movie Actress: Marion Ross, Yasmine Bleeth Description: Sci-fi yarn about a small town whose residents are undergoing radical physical and emotional changes-because they're being replaced by mirror-image inhabitants from a parallel universe coming through a vortex in a nearby lake. The originals are then sent down through the vortex to dispose of them. Ross' character suffers this fate about halfway through the film, being carried out onto the lake in a boat with her hands cuffed in front and a duct-tape gag, which she removes to beg for her life-or at least her place in this world-to no avail. About 45 minutes later, Bleeth's character winds up lying on a dock beside the lake with her hands tied behind her, being taunted and duct-tape gagged by Bleeth's character, or more correctly, her mirror-image from down below. Then she, her boyfriend, and a young boy they tried to rescue are carried out in a boat toward the vortex. There are several isolated shots of Bleeth's tape-gagged face and bound hands-which she's trying to free with a knife she surreptitiously picked up on the dock-as the final scene plays itself out. |
