| Title: Pony Soldier (1952) Medium: Movie Actress: Penny Edwards Description: Emerald Neeley (Ms. Edwards) is captured by Crees, along with a man. Around the 25' mark (in the AMC airing I saw), she's shown being freed by hero Tyrone Power. She's inside a tent at the camp. The scene is very brief. She's bitgagged, and Power is just cutting her wrist bonds behind her back when the cut is made to the tent. She removes the gag, and that's pretty much it. Later, about 70' in, recalcitrant members of the Cree nation grab her again and whisk her off. We see her again bitgagged (appearing to be made of leather, secured by thongs or cords wrapped around the ends) and bound wrists behind. After a long march, they bind her ankles over her flowing skirt, and build a fire to immolate her. Power, a Cree chief, and a Cree boy save the day. This scene runs about six minutes. |

| Title: Ella Enchanted (2004) Medium: Movie Actress: Anne Hathaway Description: There are couple of scenes worth mentioning in this cute fairy tale film. The first scene comes early when Ella (Hathaway) is handgagged by the future Prince (Hugh Dancy). The scene lasts a couple of seconds with one or two good closeups of her face. The second scene comes a little bit later when Miss Hathaway is arrested in the town market for stealing. The scene is only about a second or two in length but it's a good closeup manacles being clamped on her wrists The third scene is a good one. Some large ogres capture Ella decide to cook her for their dinner. (The film's best line occurs at this point. When the ogres' leader asks Ella "How would you like to be eaten? Baked? Broiled? Shish-kaboobed?" she replies, "How about free range?") They slowly lower her into a big cooking pot with her hands tied in front of her with more rope around her waist. Her feet are also tied together with the same rope. The Prince then comes to rescue her and cuts her down. There is a good closeup of her tied hands as she falls to the ground. She then is able to untie herself and help in the fight that has broken out. The last scene comes towards the end when Ella orders an elf to chain her to a tree. This scene lasts about a minute or so before the elf takes off and the scene ends. A couple of minutes later we return to Anne still chained to the tree. This scene lasts a couple more minutes and she is then set free. |

| Title: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005) Medium: Movie Actress: Zooey Deschanel Description: Intergalactic cutie Trillian (Deschanel) is captured by mean ol' Vogons in this space farce (the book is funnier, but doesn't have this scene). First, she dragged around the planet by a chain connected to her wrists. Second, she has her official interrogation- with the comically huge manacles on her tiny little wrists. The interrogation doesn't go well, and she's sentenced to be fed to a ravenous beast- lowered into its feeding pit, wrapped from shoulders to waist in chains. She's not eaten, though- it's a comedy. Scenes between 58 and 60 minutes without adverts. |
