Tuesday September 11 13:14:10 2012 Kate Jackson on Mike Douglas |
For some reason I couldn't post to the video page, but if you go to you tube and search Mike Douglas Kate Jackson, there is an interview he did with her on the set of Charlies Angels: Pretty Angels All in a Row where she comes out to talk to him with her hands tied in front. He unties her. |

Is this true? It all depends on how strictly you want to define "talk." They won't be able to make certain sounds (B,P) very clearly, but they can mumble just as effectively as you can with your lips pressed together. I don't think that there's any type of gag that can totally "mute" someone who wants to make noise. Even a fully stuffed mouth doesn't prevent someone from making noise in their throat. And extreme stuffing, as in that "Funny Games" cap Sam put up, is very dangerous and needs to be VERY closely watched because it can easily lead to death. I would never try that with any partner, even somebody experienced with gags. Just not worth the risk, especially since you can get similar noise reduction with much less in the mouth. It's pretty amusing to look at scenes where actresses are gagged and compare the suppression that people believe a gag causes. I've seen instances where it's been decided by the writer or director or whoever that a thin cleave or small piece of tape renders the captive completely incapable of making any sound. Humorous, but at the same time it ruins the scene, for me anyway. Obvious they have no experience on either end of the ropes and don't really care about having an effective DiD moment. |

This is why there should be more wrap-around bit-gags like Joanelle Romero's in The Girl Called Hatter Fox. Too bad we'll probably never see it again. |

This is from "Run for Your Life", and the episode title is "The Savage Season". The damsel is eithr Quinn O'Hara or Leslie Perkins. I saw this clip somewhere, and recognized character Harold J. Stone, and this was his only episode in which he appeared. |

In the script, it kinda is. Sorta treated as a quick "flashforward" image at the end that may or may not indicate what is going to happen to her. So basically, I suspect that this scene itself will probably be too quick for most viewers, but it strongly suggests that an expanded scene is in store. By the way, what was great for me about seeing this image pop up in the promo, is that in the script, she is not gagged. She's tied to the chair and looking beaten up. I remember my acute disappointment when I read it, thinking what a missed opportunity. But alas, somewhere down the line in shooting the pilot, the terrible beat-up face transformed into a lovely cleave gag. Stroke of luck! |
