Monday September 10 08:26:38 2012 Most effective gag in mainstream TV |
Hello all, just wondering if anyone here can think of TV scenes of a damsel with a really effective or tight gag that renders the her almost speechless. Not like these flimsy non-adhesive tape gags or cleave gags as thin as a string. |

I think Nicole Kidman was in her prime when she had her Batman Forever scene. She never looked better than she did in that movie. I also think Courtney Cox was in her prime period when she got the DID treatment in Scream 3. |

^ Much struggling & moaning, though? In both cases, no. |

Not like these flimsy non-adhesive tape gags or cleave gags as thin as a string. I always tought that the gag from Haute Tension is the most effective ever |

In terms of films, you can't really look much further than Susanne Lothar's in the original Funny Games - the stuff gag is so full her cheeks are bulging and she's almost struggling to catch her breath. |

Though it has been argued that, no matter how many tape you wrap around somebody's mouth and head, they will still be able to talk unless you stuff it beforehand. Is this true? |

Think it's this one you're talking about : Record number: 10627 Title: Wildside Medium: TV Series Actress: Rachael Blake Description: Episode: Unknown In an episode of this Australian TV series, social worker Maxine (series regular Blake) is bound hand and foot to a chair and tape gagged (wrapped several times around the head) by the bad guy. He uses the whole roll of duct tape to secure her body to the chair and in a lengthy scene tells his life story to his captive audience. Not much struggling but still a great scene with tight and convincing bondage. Possibly Episode: "44" |

Is this true? The human jaw can be surprisingly powerful. Gotta stuff that mouth good, otherwise the tape can simply be licked loose enough (eventually) to be able to talk clearly behind it. Number of wraps doesn't really matter either, whether it's 1, 3 or 10. Mainstream TV & film has never let the audience in on that, though.....at least as far as I've seen. Wraparounds do look good IMO, but on their own without half-decent stuffing, even a thick knotted cleave would be more effective at suppressing the noise. Regardless, it's nice to see wraparounds in mainstream, coz at least it makes it appear as though the stage folks have made SOME attempt at realism, rather than just yanking a thin cleave or flimsy OTM over a damsel's trap & expecting the audience to believe that she's completely silenced. |

I don't know if she was ever considered a "mega actress" but Charisma Carpenter was looking pretty much at her hottest when she got her full treatment scene on Angel. Plenty of time bound and gagged, even quickly handgagged and possibly hog tied after she was knocked out by her captor demon. I would also include Marissa Tormei who was also bound and gagged in "The Watcher" which was some time after she won an Oscar for My Cousin Vinny. The scene could have been better with more lighting and less loosie duct tape. |
