After he finishes the mysterious "Pacific Rim" movie, Guillermo del Torro is going to make a "Beauty and the Beast" movie!! And EMMA WATSON is all but signed as the star!! (Not the Beast). I mentioned this in a previous post, but it bears repeating. :-) |

Tuesday February 21 12:56:49 2012 The Collector |
after watching the 1965 Movie the Collector with Samantha Eggar I started to search the web for a possible remake....I found a website that listed a remake with Eliza Dushkus...I also found that it was discussed on this site in 2006 but nothing else...anyone has information on this remake...the original movie is an all time DID classic and a remake is certainly due. thanks |

bayonet wrote: > after watching the 1965 Movie the Collector with Samantha > Eggar I started to search the web for a possible remake I don't normally care about remakes even if DiD action is involved (as in, I don't wait on baited breath on the basis of rumours; I just take whatever scenes there are), but I really did enjoy The Collector as a whole when I was editing it. I think it'd be a cool concept for a modern-day remake, and seeing one of today's hotties trying to turn on a bath tap with her feet whilst B&G wearing just a towel would be quite a sight! My ideal pick for the role: Hayden Panettiere. woop woop. |

The author had at least 3 films made of his books and one fairly recently. The film was well known in it's time and I think got an Oscar nomination for something. What's even stranger than no remake or no talk of a remake is that no other film story has even copied it or come close. There have been hundreds of films and TV shows that involve the kidnapping of a beautiful woman but none that focus entirely on the kidnapper, victim relationship and nothing else, as this one did. Even The Disappearance of Alice Creed was nothing like The Collector. Alice Creed was kidnapped for money, not love obsession or sex. I think The Collector, and what it's about, is a film and an idea that is lost to time, and likely forever. But I also think, if someone like David Fincher remade it and copied the book's format and style exactly, it would be a hit. |

Funny thing is, that scene was not in the book. And a scene in the book, where he pulled her out of bed and tied her to the bedrail with just high heels on and photographed her struggling to get free, was in the book. |

Tuesday February 21 18:48:28 2012 The Collector and Die Die My Darling |
About the same time (1965) the collector was in the movies another similar gem by the title of Die Die My Darling with Stefanie Powers was also shown. The latter had miss Powers held captive by an over the top mother in law. I wonder if that is also on someones list of possible remakes? Both those movies are classic DID gems in my opinion. |

There are at least couple of stage versions. The black and white image below is from a 1983-1984 production in Germany. There is a more recent adaptation by Mark Healy. One production of this starred Rosalind Drury as Miranda. Her mum is Caroline Langrishe who has a decent CV as a DiD! lol |

Tuesday February 21 19:23:29 2012 Verbal Teases |
All this talk about Eve Torres potentially getting a scene in the WWE makes me think about a scene that could have been great had somebody listened to all the talk and made it happen. WWE diva Jillian Hall had a gimmick that should have made it impossible to not give her a scene, at a least a gag only scene. She used to always come to the ring, grab a microphone, and sing for the entire audience. The problem was she had a terrible voice and nobody wanted to hear her sing. WWE announcer Jerry Lawler would say "somebody get the duct tape" almost everytime she came to the ring. It was so frustrating to always hear him say that but never have the WWE deliver, especially since duct tape on Hall's mouth would have looked and probably sounded hot. Anybody ever experience similar frustrations? |

Tuesday February 21 20:03:21 2012 Realistic vs implied |
Which do you prefer-- Scenes that are designed to demonstrate true helplessness or scenes wherein the damsel could obviously escape or speak through the gag, etc. I have noticed that over the years film-makers have tried to make bound scenes realistic, as opposed to an old detective style sequence with a tiny bit of rope and an over the mouth gag that would stop no person from speaking. Personally I prefer damsels that look as though they have experienced not a flake of brutality and are ready for the formal dance. |

As long as it looks good visually it doesn't matter. Partners In Crime "Getting In Shape" is a great scene despite the ineffective gags. |

Tuesday February 21 22:43:13 2012 Flor Salvaje |
I think there will be a scene in tomorrow's episode of this Spanish language soap. In tonight's episode, the bad guy was having his way with one of the prostitutes, Alicia (Carolina Gaitan), and he tossed some rope on the bed. Nothing else happened in tonight's episode, but it looks like Alicia is bound to the bed in the preview for tomorrow's episode. No gag in the promo. "Flor Salvaje" airs at 8:00 p.m. CT on Telemundo. |
