The opening scene is in a parking garage, where she gags herself with a packing tape cleave-gag wound several times around her head. She tapes her ankles, and then handcuffs herself in from, before hiding in the trunk of her car. Unfortunately for her, her car is stolen by an unsuspecting thief, who discovers her in the trunk. Not knowing what to do with her, he keeps her handcuffed (but not gagged) for a while. |

Record number: 298 Title: Viva Maria! (1965) aka Viva Marķa! Medium: Movie Actress: Brigitte Bardot, Jeanne Moreau Description: The Two Marias (Bardot and Moreau) are revolutionaries in Mexico. As the revolutionaries rapidly gain ground - to the catchcry, "Viva Maria!" - the rulers are in a panic. Eventually the church steps in and, using subterfuge (not unusual!), the clerics manage to waylay the two Marias and they end up in a torture chamber. When we first see them as prisoners they are both wearing smart black blindfolds and cloth gags. Soon the blindfolds are removed and the pair strapped and/or chained down (barefoot) on torture benches, with suitable head clamps and the works. They remain gagged. Since this is a comedy, none of the rusty old equipment will work. Meanwhile the powers that be decide the women are to be executed so, while a battle rages in the streets, they are marched up to the courtyard and tied, blindfolded, standing side by side to be shot by a firing squad. Curiously they seem to now be wearing shoes and be dressed in their full finery! Oh well! They are saved at the last minute by the revolutionaries. |
