Record number: 3400 Title: The Wicked Dreams of Paula Schultz (1968) Medium: Movie Actress: Maureen Arthur, unknown Description: Absolute nonsense about an East German Olympic athlete (Elke Sommer) who defects to West Berlin and gets mixed up with characters played by various cast members from the old Hogan's Heroes TV series. About an hour and a half in Arthur gets kidnapped by a pair of bumbling Communist agents-played, of course, by Werner Klemperer and John Banner-who mistake her for Sommer's Paula (it's hard to see how; she's a brunette!) and carry her off to a Volkswagen microbus wrapped up in a sheet. The Reds discover their mistake and dump her in the street after pulling a rather long cloth stuff gag out of her mouth. Some 10 to 12 minutes later Bob Crane, playing a black marketeer posing as a reporter, slips into East Berlin to try to get back into Paula's good graces (she had gone home in a huff after discovering his plot to sell her back to the Commies). As she and a group of other athletes in training jog by, he hides behind a low wall at a corner and grabs one of the women ("Dolly"), leaving her bound hand and foot in her underwear and gagged, apparently with a necktie (the scene is rather quick and detail is hard to see), as he jogs off in her uniform and a wig to take her place in the group. |

Coming back from the final commercial break in the episode finds Kathleen lying on the office floor, hands behind her back, duct-tape over her mouth. She is quickly ungagged and freed. During the initial network broadcast, the ungagging is presented cleanly, but her being freed of her bonds is obscured by an on-screen promo covering her and hiding the nature of her bonds. |
