Record number: 8760 Title: Mosura (1996) aka Rebirth of Mothra Medium: Movie Actress: Hitomi Takahashi Description: While her young daughter sits transfixed on the couch, the victim of some spell cast by a teeny evil sorceress, Mom is shown behind it: wrists bound behind with jumprope, legs wrapped with the vacuum cleaner cord (vac still attached), and cleavegagged with a scarf. I'm guessing she got that way via her young'un, at the bidding of said baddie. Meanwhile two fairy types on Mini-Mothra battle her and her ray-spewing flying monster. Much property damage to the house ensues. Gotta love kaiju. Anyway, ultimately her son frees her wrists and ungags her, and she untangles herself from the vac cord. The sequence begins around the 20' mark (with ads), and lasts about five minutes. Note: A shot of the boy first seeing his mother through the large living room window was axed from the SCIFI airing I caught. |

Record number: 1352 Title: Carmen Jones (1954) Medium: Movie Actress: Dorothy Dandridge Description: As the title character in this version of Bizet's opera, set on a World War II Army base manned by black soldiers, she's a military prisoner being driven to jail by a corporal (Harry Belafonte). About 20 minutes in, after his jeep has to halt for a train, she tries to escape by hopping onto the slow-moving caboose. He does likewise, chasing her across a flatcar before she jumps off and rolls down an embankment, where he grabs her by her ankles and then sits on top of her, lashing her ankles together with his belt as she beats his back with her fists. Then he pulls a large white cloth from his pocket, with which he ties her hands behind her back, and hoists her over his shoulder to carry her back to the jeep. A few minutes later, after he's run the jeep into a river off a collapsed bridge, he carries her over his shoulder once more, then lets her sweet-talk him into untying her. |
