Record number: 19729 Title: The Bride He Bought Online (2015) aka Flirting with Madness Medium: TV Movie Actress: Anne Winters, Annalisa Cochrane, Lauren Gaw Description: In this thriller that aired on Lifetime, lonely nerd John seeks revenge by kidnapping three high-school girls who played a prank on him and posted his humiliation on social media. The opening scene shows a girl in his car trunk, struggling and mmmphing, though her identity is difficult to make out since the scene consists entirely of closeups of her duct-taped mouth and ankles and zip-tied hands. According to the film's director, Christine Conradt: "It was intentionally shot to be ambiguous so we used a double for those shots.". Then we jump back in time. Starting around 52 minutes in (with commercials), John captures the girls separately. Timid Mandy (Lauren Gaw) is knocked out with a blow to the head, bitchy ringleader Kaylie (Annalisa Cochrane) is grabbed in her house at gunpoint, and we only see him sneaking up behind our relatively level-headed narrator Avery (Anne Winters). All three girls are wearing modest street clothes. We see each of them gagged with tape, with a few good closeups of Mandy and Avery, though the gags are all removed fairly quickly once the girls arrive at John's hideout. The girls spend much of the second hour ungagged, with their hands bound with plastic ties and further secured to support posts with steel cables. Mandy's and Kaylie's hands are behind their backs, while Avery's hands are initially in front. John's plan is to sell all three girls into foreign slavery, but he only manages to hand over Kaylie (who in a dark twist is never seen again) before the deal goes south. He returns to the hideout with Mandy and Avery, who manages to attack him with a broken bottle, but he overpowers her and reties her with her hands behind her back. Eventually, both girls manage to take advantage of a fatal dispute between John and his prostitute confidant to make their escape. Record number: 23270 Title: Red Sparrow (2018) Medium: Movie Actress: Jennifer Lawrence, unknown Description: Lawrence plays Dominika, a Russian ballerina who is encouraged by her uncle to become a spy. At 24mins, she gets frisky with a politician in a plush hotel room, stripping to her black lace bra and panties as they make out. He suddenly throws her onto a bed face-up, gives her a prolonged handgag and rips off her panties to rape her, all the while keeping his hand very tightly clamped over her mouth. Lots of close-ups and wide-eyed expression from Dominika, until her uncle (disguised in motorcyle gear and helmet) comes to the rescue by garrotting the assailant. During the spy training classes, at 34mins, a group of students are watching S&M videos on PC monitors. On Dominika's screen, a topless blonde (unknown) is shown cleave gagged with a thin black cloth and blindfolded with a leather sleep mask. Her arms are pulled behind her back by someone, but the sequence lasts only a few seconds. At 1hr 43-44mins, Dominika has been brought in for interrogation by the authorities, who spend two sequences torturing her in a rough way. In the first, we see her in a shower-type of room, stripped "tastefully" nude (best parts concealed) and kneeling on a stool in a very strict strappado position; she is pinned forward against her thighs with a black fabric strap around the back of her neck, arms pulled up behind her and anchored to the ceiling with more straps, and feet strapped together in a sort of chair hogtie. She is tortured by having water poured over her and loud European death metal blaring to break her spirit. Two brief shots, one from below, the other from across the room where you can see her entire predicament. Again only a few seconds long. In the next sequence she has been re-clothed, sitting on a chair in a different room; her wrists are strapped to the armrests, ankles strapped to the back of the chair and pulling her feet off the ground in a chair hogtie again. Then it gets really nasty with a female interrogator instructing two soldiers to give her a brutal and bloody beatdown. Dominika is barefoot in both sequences. No gags in either. A very minor scene occurs at 2hrs 5-6mins, when Dominika is led out for a prisoner exchange with her hands cuffed in front. All times based on the Blu-ray release. I just saw a quick promo on WABC's morning show that was endorsing some new show with the above title.
