Record number: 11903 Title: The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (2005) Medium: Movie Actress: Vanessa Bauche, January Jones Description: Short but sweet scene for the nicely named Ms. Jones (who is no relation to star/director Tommy Lee Jones, and a different actress from the other January Jones in the database) in this modern Western. It's preceded, however, by a violent sequence about ten minutes in where a group of illegal immigrants, Bauche's character among them, has the misfortune of encountering a squad of Border Patrol agents, one of them the husband of Jones' character, as they come across. He chases down and tackles a pair of them, smashing his fist into Bauche's nose to subdue her (something that will come back to haunt him later in the film). A moment later she's shown for a few seconds holding a cloth to her bloody, broken nose, her wrists bound with a plastic tie. Then about 35 minutes later, we see Jones in a comfy chair with her hands tied in front with white rope, and brown ropes above and below her breasts binding her to the chair. She's sporting a duct tape gag. Her captor almost immediately covers her with a blanket, so the bonds are visible only briefly, but we get a few more shots of her gagged face after that. The scene lasts about a minute altogether, and is followed by another brief face shot a couple of minutes later. |

Record number: 192 Title: The Collector (1965) Medium: Movie Actress: Samantha Eggar Description: Based on John Fowles' novel classic damsel-in-distress novel, "The Collector." In the beginning of the movie villain Ferdy chloroforms Miranda and she ends up with her hands and feet tied together, also gagged with cloth over her mouth. In the next scene, she is moved from her room in an out building to the mansion to take a shower. Terrence Stamp binds her wrists behind her back, but when he takes out a black cloth, she tells him a gag won't be necessary. With her wrists tied still tied, she stops on the path to allow the wind to blow through her hair. Later in the film she is taking a bath when a neighbor rings the doorbell to the collector's house. He rushes in and gags her with a towel stuffed in her mouth and held in place by a black cloth, and ties her hands to a pipe. While Ferdy talks to the neighbor, Miranda tries to alert him to her predicament by turning on a spiggot which causes the bathroom tub to overflow. Ferdy explains that the plumbing frequently leaks and rushes into the bathroom to tighten Miranda's gag and deal with the water problem. Very extended scene. There is a pretty good scene in the butterfly room. After the girl makes some comments about his horrible butterfly collection, a chase around the room insues. He locks a door and cuts off her escape; herds her back into the room and chloroforms her. Then there is the scene next to the fireplace with her hands tied in front but no gag. He unties her hands and she undresses for him but he spurns her advances. ("Spurns". Is that the right word?) |
