| Thin Air: A Spenser Mystery |

Parker's "Thin Air" (2000) Medium: TV Movie Actress: Yancy Butler Description: She's a cop's wife who mysteriously disappears, courtesy of a former boyfriend turned druglord who slips into her home about four minutes in, knocking her unconscious after a brief struggle and lashing her wrists together in front with a large floral-print scarf. At about seven minutes she's shown lying in the back of his van, now cleave-gagged with a blue scarf, as her captor videotapes her (the van's being driven by an unseen accomplice). When they reach his hideout, she's carried over his shoulder inside. Next, about four minutes later, we're treated to a nice pan shot of her lying on a bed, starting at her ankles-tied together with still another scarf-and ending at her face, the blue cleave still in place. Her captor comes into the room, still armed with his camcorder, with which he shoots a close-up sequence of her trying to turn away from the harsh light, and she discovers the room lined with several television monitors, all showing videotaped scenes of their former time together. He places the camera on a tripod and unties her as the monitors begin showing black-and-white scenes of her being carried out of the van, followed by closeups of her cleave-gagged face. Some ten minutes later, she's shown sitting with him at a dinner table as a color closeup of her cleave-gagged on the bed shows on a monitor behind her. The last bondage scene in the film occurs at about an hour and twenty minutes, when, on her captor's orders, a man and woman burst into her room and drag her to a chair, to which they tie her with her hands behind her back. The woman makes something of a spectacle of duct-tape gagging her, wrapping multiple layers around Butler's head and pausing to smile and give her a sinister laugh before leaving. |

Just before the 30 minute mark with commercials, Olivia(Anna Torv)is knocked out as she is spying at a home. When she comes to she is lying on the floor on her side and has her hands tied in front and ankles tied. She is apparently on a boat. She is put into a box and then nailed shut. She is then tossed into the water inside the box as she struggles while bound and yells for help. She is rescued and dragged into an inflatable raft with her ankles still tied. Not gagged. She is wearing brown pants, a white shirt, brown trenchcoat and boots. |

A door behind the desk swings open and he sees Virginia Mayo bound to a chair by a few ropes wrapped around her upper body, but her hands are held behind her and not seen, and the position suggests that her hands are not together. gagged with white cloth between the teeth. Record number: 7949 Title: The Transporter (2002) Medium: Movie Actress: Qi Shu aka Shu Qi Description: About 17 minutes into the movie the transporter hears a lot of mmmphing from the trunk (aka boot) of his car. A few moments later he opens the trunk and Qi Shu's tape gagged face pokes out, the rest of her body in a bag. He puts a small hole in the tape so that Qi Shu can drink through a straw. When he takes out a knife for making the hole in the tape there is a lot of mmphhing. At about 19 minutes she is let out of the bag and untied so she can go to pee (she had pointed out that she would have to do so in his car otherwise). She reaches to take the tape off her mouth but the transporter says "do you need your mouth to pee?" so she leaves it on. She escapes, he follows and recaptures her, puts the tape back over her mouth, ties her wrists in front and carries her over his shoulder to the car at about 22 minutes. He then delivers her to the mansion of a Crime Lord and we see the large sports type bag being taken from the car. He is given another delivery to make, but it turns out to be a time bomb, presumably intended to ensure his silence. By luck he survives and returns to seek vengeance. At about 32 minutes Qi Shu is shown tied to an office type chair, on wheels, hands behind, ankles together with rope and tape gagged. Some struggling and she propels the chair to the door when her guard leaves to investigate the commotion. The transporter disposes of the guards but finds that the Crime Lord has left. He leaves in a stolen car and at 34 minutes we see that she is on the back seat of the car, still tied to the chair. In irritated response to her mmphhing he takes her out of the car and drives off leaving her still tied to the chair in the middle of the road. Good views of her tied feet and alarmed look on her face, as he relents and reverses back rapidly, when she thinks he is intending to run her over. Still on the chair, she is placed in the trunk for the remainder of the journey. At about 36 minutes they arrive at the transporter's house, he wheels her in still tied to the chair. He asks her a few questions and re-gags her twice when the answers are more than just what he wants to hear, nice mmpphing then. Decent length scenes. At about 37 minutes he cuts her free and she is seen rubbing her ankles. He says he needs sleep and tells her she can go; she decides to stay as she needs his help. Perhaps some may like the gesture the next morning when she has made breakfast for him and is talking he says "I like it quiet in the morning". She agrees and starts telling about her liking for quiet, then realises she should stop talking and makes a 'zipping-up' gesture with her finger across her mouth, at about 43 minutes (times for a 1 hour 45 minute broadcast with adverts). One good detail to add at the end would be that Lai(Shu Qi) keeps her mouth duct taped an extra 19-20 seconds after the guy unties her. The tape was still on her mouth while she was rubbing her ankles and she didn't take it off until the hero left her in the kitchen and started walking away which led her to finally rip the tape off and ask "Where are you going?" |

After the ransom call, our damsel is cleave gagged with a white cloth onscreen. She is already taped hands behind - supposedly, we never actually see her bonds - , and blindfolded with a black cloth. Her female captor Daniella Evangelista temporarily removes the gag and even unties her for a moment (blindfold stays, though), then she's re-gagged again and her hands are taped together again, this time in front. A few minutes later, the unobserved damsel makes use of the fact that she is still bound hands in front, frees herself and escapes from a motor home. After her abduction ordeal, at about the 44-minute mark, del Mar is hand-gagged from behind by a black-gloved home intruder. |
