Friday October 04 00:12:37 2019 Re: ME Winstead in Gemini Man |
Don't get your hopes up guys. A cam version has leaked online at the usual sites. The scene was awful. I imagined the night vision gagging as something similar to the IZombie scene with Aly Michalka, but it was much worse. Looks closer to thermal imaging than that. Winstead isn't even recognizable. She's in the middle of talking when her captor approaches her with night vision on, we hear a rip of duct tape, and he slaps the tape over her mouth with one hand. Then, in the only redeemable part of this scene, she mmphs "f*ck you". The only other shot of her was from the side in the background. I don't think 4k is going to do much to improve this scene. |

Thank you both for helping me get that straight. |

Yeah, definitely not enough to redeem time and/or money spent on a dumb and bad movie. |
Friday October 04 02:09:39 2019 Re: The Collector 1965 |
>how has this not yet been remade...in over50 years? Damn good question which I ponder from time to time especially when I've re-read Fowles' novel over the years. It's themes of class-divide, loneliness and obsession are as relevant as ever. A new film version could include all the f/t scenes from the novel that were left out of the '65 film as well as retain the classic "bathtub" scene created for that film. Could think of any number of English roses who could play the damsel. Suki Waterhouse, Cara Delevigne, Anya Taylor-Joy et cetera. The 55th anniversary of the original film's release would be timely. Would also like to see a film version of Mendal Johnson's novel Let's Go Play At The Adams'. What a bondage-fest THAT would be. Edgy and controversial sure, but similar has been filmed - The Girl Next Door for example - so maybe one day who knows. The Collector should definitely be remade |

When the villain pulls the black tape you can tell that it was really stuck on her lips. I also think that the tape on Dulce Maria's scene from Rebelde is pretty sticky, considering that the outline of her lips is VERY visible. |

Friday October 04 09:02:00 2019 Re: The Collector 1965 |
Remember getting very excited in the mid-2000s when I read about an upcoming horror film called "The Collector". Naturally assumed it was a remake of the Sixties film based on the classic book but nooo it was some torture porn malarkey with feautured damsels all bloody and bound with barbed wire etc. Yuck. The original Fowles novel is the quintessential DiD tale with the works. William Wyler's '65 film did have the great bathroom scene but was constrained by its era and couldn't fulfill the whole potential of the book. A remake today could be totally faithful to the source material. It could even be a tv mini-series. Guess it would come down to acquiring the rights. And as previously mentioned there's a plethora of eligible mid-20's UK, US or even Australian actresses who could play Miranda. Would-be screenwriters take note! |

Friday October 04 18:52:24 2019 Phantom Sunday comic |
The comic strip The Phantom runs a separate storyline on Sundays. The one the past few months has featured an Amazonian slave-holding nation. There were some light tie-up scenes (hands in front sort) in some episodes. I hadn't been paying much attention, so I went back today and checked. In the episode last Sunday, apparently The Ghost Who Walks had overpowered a couple of the guards and left them in bit of a bind (har har). Unfortunately, Comics Kingdom has gone to only two weeks back for non-premium members. So I wasn't sure what happened the previous week. However, Seattle PI goes back a like a month. The downside is, the comics are smaller and they cut off the top row on Sundays. I did get wondering if the CK images were more persistent. Often they are. Being an engineer cruelly thrown out of work for stealing paperclips* with idle time, I started analyzing the complicated image URLs. I noticed patterns common to the PI and CK links, including a two-letter sequence that changed each week. That looks to be a date code. I didn't actually figure that out, although I might keep at it, but I hacked the CK links with the codes from PI and was able to get the images https://safr.kingfeatures.com/api/img.php?e=png&s=c&file=VGhlUGhhbnRvbS8yMDE5LzA5L1BoYW50b21faHMuMjAxOTA5MDhfMTUzNi5wbmc= https://safr.kingfeatures.com/api/img.php?e=png&s=c&file=VGhlUGhhbnRvbS8yMDE5LzA5L1BoYW50b21faHMuMjAxOTA5MTVfMTUzNi5wbmc= https://safr.kingfeatures.com/api/img.php?e=png&s=c&file=VGhlUGhhbnRvbS8yMDE5LzA5L1BoYW50b21faHMuMjAxOTA5MjJfMTUzNi5wbmc= https://safr.kingfeatures.com/api/img.php?e=png&s=c&file=VGhlUGhhbnRvbS8yMDE5LzA5L1BoYW50b21faHMuMjAxOTA5MjlfMTUzNi5wbmc= * That's a joke. |

Some episodes are available on demand so I was wondering (obviously it's too late to catch the ones that already aired but if the scene is still ongoing....) |
