| Mary appears in all 89 issues of this comic book, which initially features all three Marvels teamed up in a feature story as well as a short, solo story about each family member. When page numbers were reduced, the solo stories were cut. One result of this change is that Mary is frequently tied with the other two members of the Marvel Family. Yet because of the length of its run (1945-54), Marvel Family has more Mary Marvel appearances than any other magazine—as well as more bindings and gaggings. Mary is bound and gagged in 35 of 89 (39%) of the Marvel Family comics. Seven issues have more than one story where she gets the treatment, so the frequency of the scenes could even be adjusted upwards a bit—there are 42 scenes total across 89 issues. Marvel Family also features the latter-day, 1950s Mary Marvel stories of the Fawcett years. Interestingly, Mary Marvel’s skirt length shortens dramatically towards the end of the run, and two or three stories even have panty shots. Was this a crass attempt to ‘sex up’ Mary and sell more product to pre-teen boys at a time when sales were flagging and DC’s copyright infringement lawsuit dragged on? Mary is bound and gagged in the following issues of Marvel Family: 3 (HG), 5, 7 (HG, C), 9 (HG), 10 (C), 13 (HG), 14 (HG), 17, 21 (HG), 39, 40, 46, 47, 48 (C), 54, 56, 57, 58, 63, 64, 69, 70, 72, 73, 75, 76, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 86, 87, 89 Notes: #5: This is s nice scene. As she sleeps, Mary is gagged by the bad guy, who then ties her in her bed with what looks like torn sheets wrapped around the bed multiple times. #7: This issue features two gaggings in two separate stories. The first includes a handgag and a tight OTM, the second a knock-out and a panel where, bound and gagged, she is carried by two henchmen. #10: This issue contains a book-length story in which the Marvel Family fights the Sivanas. Mary goes back in time to the city of Atlantis—only to be tightly gagged from behind by Georgia and carried over the shoulder by her. The gag here initially looks a cleave, but by the end of the story, when Mary is reunited with Billy and Freddy who have also been captured, the gag is a big, loose-looking OTM. #14: Mary is bound and gagged in two separate stories. In the first, she is nicely gagged from behind and later picked up by a giant, who thinks she is a doll. In the second, she is handgagged, tied to a chair, and tightly gagged with an OTM. (Unfortunately, Freddy Freeman also shares her fate here.) #21: The Marvel Family story has Mary, along with Billy and Freddy, bound and gagged. The solo Mary Marvel story has a nice handgag scene. #48: Mary gets rather brutalized in this one: knocked out twice, bound and gagged, carried over the shoulder, and thrown from a plane. #54: Mary is gagged and bound in two separate stories. The first is in the Marvel Family team-up story, and it’s not much of a scene as we only see her from behind and the other Marvels are tied with her. #57: This issue features two scenes in two separate stories. In the first, Marvel Family team story, Mary, along with the other Marvels, is tied and gagged OTM with a strip of cloth. The second story features an unusual gag—Mary has a wad of paper stuffed into her mouth until the bad guy can take her to his lair, bind her, and knot a white OTM gag over her mouth. #73: Mary, along with Freddy, is gagged on the cover. In the story, she is gagged and bound next to Freddy and Billy. #79: Along with the other two Marvels, Mary is first bound and gagged and then later in the story is mummified. #81: Mary gets bound and gagged twice, in two separate stories, in this issue. As seems to be the norm in later Marvel Family comics, the two other Marvels share her fate in both stories. #82: Gagged and hung from the ceiling with chains (along with the other two Marvels, again). There’s also a tiny suggestion of a peek at her white panties on page five as Mary Marvel kicks. (The first is in #78. They are red.) #83: Mary is gagged twice in two separate stories—again alongside the other two Marvels. And one panel once again has a vague suggestion of a panty shot. #84: She’s tied to rocket and gagged on the cover and in the story itself by Georgia Sivana. #87: Mary is bound and gagged twice in this issue in two separate stories. As per usual in the Marvel Family comics, Freddy and Billy are tied alongside her. |

| Mary has two additional scenes from the Fawcett years. She appears as a guest star in six issues of Captain Marvel Adventures and got the full treatment once, in issue 65. The other scene is a World War II-era public service announcement that ran in in Wow Comics #24. The scene in Captain Marvel #65 is a Holy Grail of sorts because, yes, Mary is bound and gagged in her costume by Dr. Sivana himself. If only the execution were better—specifically with close-ups of the tied and silenced Mary Marvel—this would have been the all-time greatest Mary Marvel scene. It starts off good enough. Mary Batson is gagged from behind by Dr. Sivana and then carried away over his shoulder. We are treated to three panels of Mary, in her costume now, chained to a wall and gagged, but each is drawn as a medium shot and lacks detail. Mary offers Captain Marvel an eye-opening explanation, to say the least, as to how she was kept bound and helpless: “Sivana wanted to make you believe he had destroyed Mary Marvel! So he made me dress in this Mary Marvel dress!” How Sivana manages to remove Mary Batson’s clothes and “have her dress” as Mary Marvel while keeping her gagged and silenced sets the mind a-reel. |

Never had a great scene, but just seemed to have the DiD qualities all checked off perfectly. And of course she was beautiful. |

| Hollyoaks had a scene this week with Chelsee Healey who plays Goldie Mcqueen, Desparate Carl Costello kidnaps Goldie to ransom her to get his grandson bobby back from the Mcqueens but Goldie having none of it and hilarity ensures, Alot of close ups of Chelsee gagged cant remember what day episode was but it will be on the hollyoaks omnibus |
