| Mary Marvel had her own comic book series that, unfortunately, ran only for 28 issues from 1945-1948. But what a run it was, as it featured some of her best scenes of the Fawcett years, and usually without Billy Batson and Freddy Freeman, who, to some, might mar the scenes in the Marvel Family comic books. Mary is gagged in 10 of the 28 (36%) Mary Marvel Comics, but several of the issues contain two or even three scenes. The series contains 15 scenes in all. Mary is bound and gagged (with the exceptions of #4, #6, and #20) in the following issues: 1, 2 (HG), 3 (HG), 4 (No gag), 6 (HG only, No gag), 7 (HG, C), 8 (C), 9, 14 (HG), 16, 20 (HG only, no gag), 22, 24 (C), 28 Notes: #1: In the inaugural issue of Mary Marvel comics, Mary receives her inaugural OTM from Georgia Sivana, who had the good fortune to tie and gag Mary more than anyone else. It’s a good scene. She is gagged from behind and tied to a telephone pole. #2: This issue contains THREE scenes. The first is a break from the typical OTM arrangement. Georgia Sivana returns to knit Mary into a straightjacket made of yarn from Venus. The gear includes a hood that covers the head except for the eyes, with an attached string that ties over the mouth area and functions as a gag. In the second and third stories, Mary is handgagged and then bound and OTM gagged, first by an African-American man (depicted in a horribly racist, demeaning, and dated manner) and next by a deranged poet. #3: One story contains a handgag and full treatment, OTM scene. In a second story, Mary is sprayed with a gas that takes away her voice and is bound, but not gagged. #4: Mary temporarily loses her powers and is tied to a chair—in her costume. Add a gag and it would have been one of the classics. #6: Handgagged (“What..MMMM!”), but only shown in silhouette. No ropes or gags. #7: This issue features two of the best scenes, in separate stories, of the Fawcett era. In the first, Mary is handgagged and then bound and gagged with a white cloth stretched over her mouth and nose by none other than Georgia Sivana (“THERE! You’re gagged and all hog-tied, dearie!”). Mary offers commentary on the gag—“Holy Moley! She sure did a good job of gagging me!”—before she is thrown into the ocean and ultimately saved by mer-people. In the second story she is nabbed in her bed, tied up and gagged in her pajamas, and carried over the shoulder (“MMMFFF!”). #8: This issue contains two scenes in separate stories. The first is another classic. Mary is bound with rope and guest star Bulletgirl is put in a straitjacket. They are both OTM gagged with white cloths, and carried, cradle-style, into a padded cell, where they are tied to chairs. Bulltetgirl hooks her helmet under Mary’s gag, gives it a tug, and they are free! In the second tale, Mary falls prey to the bratty-kids-tie-and-gag-the-babysitter trope. #16: Mary is knocked out, tied to a chair, and gagged with a white OTM gag in two separate stories. Both are nice scenes with good gags. In the first one, the villain is once again Georgia Sivana. #24: In what is surely the greatest scene of the Fawcett era, Mary is knocked out by Nightowl, carried in his arms, bound and OTM gagged, and then left to be crushed by a presser machine. I love how NIghtowl also feels as if he must justify gagging Mary: “I have gagged her so she won’t be able to cry out!” Thanks for that, Nightowl. She is unconscious, you know. The close-ups and tightly-stretched gag are enough to make this scene a classic, but another feature that stands out is Mary’s breasts, which the artist seems to emphasize as a rope is tied over them. Normally, Mary is a smallish girl—a B cup or small C at best—but here she fills a rather perky, solid C cup. #28: Knocked out, tied to a chair in a beauty salon, and OTM gagged with a white cloth by the Hen. A very good scene. |

| Nice collection! Do you have some pictures from Silver,bronze or modern ages? Are there any scene (not cover) with Mary un hermoso costume? I remember a scene in wich she was bound and gagged, and she makes somehow let her voice go out from some kind of radio and transfroms into Mary Marvel. It is not shown unfortunately, but would be a good scene showing her gagged in hermoso costume, not just her alterego. |

After a long lawsuit brought by DC Comics, Fawcett stop publishing all Marvel Family comics, so there are no Silver Age scenes. All of the Fawcett scenes are available on the Digital Comics Museum, as I mentioned above. Scans of most of the modern, DC era Mary Marvel can be found on the Internet. I will cover the DC years in part six. As for whether or not Mary is gagged in her costume during the Fawcett years, well, you will just have to wait and see. :) |

As old age creeps in, it might be fun to try and track down hard copies of some of these comics. With all the overly dark superhero movies and TV shows, it's shame someone doesn't follow the 60s campy Batman formula and do a Mary Marvel show. |

| Online now. Sorry, I'm a bit out of it and can't give much help. But at least three short scenes in this movie. Tape gag, Stuff gag for two and Tape gag/blindfold for three. Hopefully someone with more sobriety and patience than me can give more help. |
