| This nexy one is a definite candidate for "the BEST". When I say "Damsel in Distress" in the same sentence as "railway", what springs to mind..? A lassie tied to the line..? Passe! In "Chimera"(2001) an attractive middle aged DiD ,Iaia Forte, is bound to the hydraulic bumper thingy of a flatbed as, one after another, several other such flatbeds are shunted round the bend towards her. In the words of whichever articulate soul authored the database entry for this one, "she's in line to get smushed". Good word that, "smushed"! Splendidly realized scene incidentally! The quiet corner of a railway depot, the Mediterranian sun and sky, the birdsong, the Damsel in Distress.....Just splendid. |

| That last one reminds me of the astonishingly beautiful Pam Dawber's two scenes in "Stay Tuned"(1992).There is the scene early on where she is secured to a chair over a pit of ravenous beasties. And THEN there is the scene late on wherein the lovely Pam is tied to a wagon load of gunpowder which is parked across the railway line as a train speeds towards it! Kenny really likes Pam Dawber. Alas that she never got the full treatment...... |

Unfortunately the car crashes enroute and the girl and one of the kidnappers are both killed. The book is really about the aftermath of that event. |
