Tuesday May 26 08:34:40 2020 The Genetic Detective |
I just saw a quick promo on WABC's morning show that was endorsing some new show with the above title. While not expecting much personally, the premise says that a couple are "bound, gagged and brutally murdered." Could be more of a news feature story similar to 20/20... On Tuesday night @10 P.M. The gag is tied over her hair. She's tied to a chair with her hands bound in front. She's rescued from the bad guys at the last second. There's some male interference as she's seated next to her secret agent husband who is being interrogated, but there are some nice close-ups. The scene occurs towards the end of the episode and lasts for about 90s seconds. This NBK scene disturbed me enough that I skimmed through the novelization when I saw it in a bookstore. I recall that it told the story mostly through the POV of characters other than Mickey and Mallory, so I don't think there was a specific description of the hostage scene. But I do remember one law enforcement character describing the hostage as being a fighter and surviving her encounter with M&M. No idea if that would be considered definitive of her fate -- I'm pretty sure it's left open in the actual script. But Oliver Stone wrote the foreword to the novelization so I suppose this version has his blessing. |

I've been curious about the NBK novelization and if it filled in any backstory on Emily (the name of the motel hostage). |
