Yes, considering the setting of the show, I don't think it's at all shocking that there isn't a huge supply of unused duct tape floating around. I imagine strips of cloth are much easier to come by and if someone needs to be gagged in a hurry and another is tearing up a short or sheet or what-not, it's easier to tear thinner ones than really thick ones...hence probably why all the gags look about the same..thin & tight (at least they are being realistic in THAT regard...if the gag has to be a bit thin, they generally make sure they are pretty tight!). |

Hi guys, wondering if anyone might be able to help me identify a TV show or movie I remember seeing some time ago (probably 10 years or so). I recall that a man is boarded up in his ex-wife's house with his young daughter, with police surrounding the place. I assume its the ex-wife/mother that enters to try and negotiate, but he ties her up downstairs and gags her with a knotted cleave gag. Later when the police enter the house and untie her they ask if she did/saw something, but she says 'No, I was tied up downstairs'. Does this ring any bells for anyone? Cheers! |

I'm going to make this clear. That site is down. No one knows why. Do not post about about it unless you have real information on the situation. Not speculation or guessing. If it comes back, there will be a message. Otherwise get on with things. Do not attempt to reply to this message except as outlined above. |

I get the post-apocalyptic setting, but I'm still hard-pressed to imagine the survivors don't have rolls of duct tape stock-piled and that there hasn't been more than a few occasions where it could easily be used to restrain and silence captives. |

Well, another way to look at it..if there ARE stockpiles of duct tape around, I imagine that they are saving them for those things where only duct tape will do...it's probably a very valuable commodity. Torn sheets/shirts/other fabrics would be easier to come by and more expendable than wasting precious duct tape gagging a captive, especially as it could only be used once, while theoretically cloth strips & rope can be used over & over. I can imagine someone starting to tear off hunks of tape to bind/gag a captive and their leader saying "hey...don't waste the tape, we can't get any more...use a hunk off your shirt or something". Just my take. (haha....WAY overthinking it here ! Lol) |

Whereas I'd like to know why they don't ball up some of that readily available cloth and stuff it in the mouths before they tie on a cleave. And for that matter, why not do some OTM wrapping after that? I have to believe there'd be at least one captor who thinks that the idea of gagging someone is to, y'know, cut down on their ability to make a lot of noise. But maybe that's just me. |
