The Black Panther 1977. Tan colored Elastoplast'
Also Marlo Thomas in That Girl ep "Don't just do
something stand there" sports either Elastoplast or
something very similar. If so a rare use in an American
scene.

Re: Microfoam Tape Gags
Pretty sure the 1977 UK tv series King Cinder featured the very young and lovely Lesley Manville receiving a wide microfoam gag whilst being held captive on a barge in the last 2 episodes. It's never been released on dvd and I haven't seen it since the early Eighties but I have strong memories of fairly lengthy scenes and good closeups of Lesley's lips clearly showing through the tape(been a fan of lip outlines since I was 5 or 6 so they must've used a lot of elastoplast etc in the Seventies). Hopefully the series sees the light of day sometime it was pretty good especially if you you're into motorbikes

Re: Microfoam Tape Gags
There's a scene of King Cinder on a few well known sites showing a brief scene of Lesley being rescued by the hero. Definitely a microfoam gag you can tell by the width of it and the way it comes off - it peels rather than rips like duct tape does. Would love to see the entire scenes, classic DiD stuff

She started laughing because she accidentally sat on the ball gag "I sat on the ball gag!" and then the kidnapper guy says "it's been in worse places" and she replies "don't say that! That was just in my mouth"

Re: Microfoam Tape Gags
Just watched ep1 of That Girl with Marlo Thomas had never seen the show before not even re-runs. What a great little scene! Marlo was gorgeous and that tape gag damn well looked like microfoam or maybe it was white elastoplast but either way she looked so beautiful. Love the cute d-i-d related dialogue before and after her scene too so matter-of-fact like this sort of scenario happened all the time. Ah 1971, simpler times eh. Gem of a scene, makes you wonder how many elastoplast-y type scenes there were in the Sixties and Seventies that we don't even know about yet. It certainly seemed to be the tape of choice in that era

It did look like microfoam, but given the year -- 1966, actually -- it was almost certainly adhesive tape.

On the other hand, it seemed floppier than adhesive tape and didn't leave a residue like the very sticky adhesive tape would have. That would *really* have ripped her face off.

Re: Microfoam Tape Gags
That Girl scene with Marlo Thomas pretty sweet indeed. 1966 eh. The way her lips stood out especially in the side-on elevator scenes certainly very suggestive of microfoam tape and it peeled off rather smoothly. 51 years ago hmmm am wondering when microfoam tape hit the market? Love the way she was bound too, arms at sides etc. That advertising company sure knew their stuff. "Mad Men" indeed ha.

That Girl what a unique way for a series to start lol. A DiD premise! If only every show was the same :)

Although I love that scene, the still that shows her lips is not very attractive. I always prefer a smooth, opaque white tape gag. In the 1960's adhesive tape was thick enough that it usually did the trick and didn't show lip outlines even when well sealed. And boy was it sticky!

Re: Microfoam Tape Gags
I think the overall appeal of elastoplast and microfoam style tape gags is that besides being very aesthetically appealing they look so effective - you can see the damsel's lips are clearly immobile unlike duct tape which is often poorly applied with no lips visible and often a clear gap between the tape and the face which looks laughable. Elastoplast instantly looks tight and secure, and microfoam makes the lips look so beautiful it's no wonder commercial sites embrace it. High time both became popular again. Is just as available to buy as duct tape my local drugstore has both elastoplast and microfoam tape rolls in various widths....

A different one also with Bronk, similar to Yvonne Craig's in The Magician

Re: Microfoam Tape Gags
I guess it comes down to personal preference when it comes down to tape gag lip outlines, and To Each His Own fair enough too. Personally I love to see the lips especially with duct tape because then you know it's applied properly. And there's something very sexy about seeing a beautiful girl's lips clearly and she can't move them at all. But I like most gags, especially cleaves; they have to be tight tho or the scene won't work for me

Re: Microfoam Tape Gags
That Bronk scene is amazing. Such tight bonds and the underwear very racy for the time reminds me of the Bellamy tv series episode My Fav'rit Policeman - underwear, white tape gag, well bound girl. Can't believe they got away with it

Same. That always really sells the gag for me and re-cnforces how tight it is.

Re: Microfoam Tape Gags
When it comes to visible lips through tape, Cameron Diaz in A Life Less Ordinary is a tough one to beat for sure. Still one of the best applied tape gags ever.

Re: Microfoam Tape Gags
Joanna Going in Columbo still in my all time top ten. Exquisite damsel, great kidnap/chloro scene and then the slow pan up her bound stockinged legs to that perfect gagged face(sigh). She was ungagged way too quickly but other than that a scene that dreams are made of. Ordinary white tape too is so effective

The Limehouse Golem
Check out the trailer for Bill Nighy's Jack The Ripper-esque thriller. Reckon it could have a scene or two. Love Victorian-era Did's :)
