Voice Actors
When a cartoon character is gagged, is the actress too? or do they just make the noise?

Re: Voice Actors
I've wondered that myself, actually. Same with live-action scenes where the actress is gagged, since so much work is done during ADR during the looping process. Is the actress' gagged moaning and whimpering something that's recorded during the actual filming of the scene or is it done during ADR in post-production? And if the latter, is she re-gagged during the process or simply makes gagged noises?

Isla Fisher was gagged during the VO recording of 'Rango'.

Apparently I can't post the link here but go to You Tube and search 'Johnny Depp 'Rango' movie - Behind the Scenes' and select the 2:57 clip

I deleted yours because it was abusive. Rather than
raising a point of order for me to review that post
you directed it at the contributor. Don't do that.
It's against the rules.

I had seen the original post, weighed it at the time
and decided that it wasn't sufficient to merit
deletion.

That fact that I disagreed with you doesn't make me
inconsistent. I will admit to being selective, because
that's what moderation is. If you aren't selective
then everything gets in or nothing.

Re: Annihilation Dvd
Interesting how screenplays can change, and great when it's to "our" benefit. Kudos to Alex Garland for including the finished scene and making the gags so realistic. Annihilation is one of those films that require repeated viewing to get your head around it. Bold and innovative film maker look forward to his next opus.

It’s obvious 99% of the time in most movies and shows just as it is in scenes with dialogue-the sound levels will be inconsistent with what’s immediately before and after it and the delivery might be different to ally than the rest of the dialogue. For gag scenes, it’s usually easy to tell, too, because there are times it’s super loud and not that muffled but the mouth isn’t moving, nor is the rest of the face emoting like it would if anyone were to be making those noses (eyebrows scrunched, nose moving, etc.). Other times the gag noises may be muffled but the audio, itself, is very clear because it was recording in ADR directly into a mic, instead of from whatever mics were on the set. Idk. Maybe it’s not as obvious to other people as it is to me. I usually notice it right away because it’s somewhat distracting.

She spent quite a bit of time gagged, and walked around for a while with the gag in her mouth.

Re: Voice Actors
It’s obvious in some cases. In the Beauty and the Beast “Kidnapped episode”, where Kristin Kremlin is handgagged for example. Listen to the preview clip and then listen to the dialogue in the actual aired episode. It’s hilariously obvious. I’ll post a link in the video page.

There was a behind the scenes recording clip for the English dub of the Japanese anime 'Fairy Tail' where the lead female character gets gagged, the voice actress just handgags herself to simulate gag and makes some muffled mmphs.
I can only guess that this is what voice actresses do to simulate gag or maybe some just keep their mouth shut and make some noise. I don't think they would get a cloth or something to make a gag as they need to keep up with the pace of the animation.

Yeah, because that stuff goes on the Video Page.

Young and the Restless - three women in zip ties.
I just caught a glimpse of today's "Young and the Restless," and it looks like three women are zip tied: actresses Sharon Case, Amelia Heinle, and Melody Thomas Scott.

They're being held captive by a bad guy. He has their hands zip-tied in front.

I don't know if any other bonds occurred earlier or in a previous episode.

Political stuff = off topic
Real life stuff = off topic
Protests = off topic

Celebrities putting duct tape over their mouth to protest against Proposition h8 = on topic

We had a forum discussion years ago about the subject.
The consensus was that some consensual celebrity stuff
would be allowed. So Noh8 with regular people, off-topic.
With celebrities, on-topic.

Nonconsensual with celebrities, like crimes or arrests
would continue to be off-topic.

I don't think there is any inconsistency or ambiguity.
