This very long posting sounds like it was written by me - (but wasn't). I am guessing I often traded VHS tapes with this individual, and probably many others from this site... (the ones remaining here). While I still glance at this fine site, and will occasionally look for new scenes in movies, TV shows - (rarely finding anything truly worthwhile) - I no longer **collect** scenes- since 2002.

BTW, not counting the old Superman series, first b/g scene I recall seeing was old movie The Man Who Turned To Stone, from a Saturday matinee movie theater, and the first scene I actually taped was The Bird With The Crystal Plumage, followed by Pat Priest in Two Headed Transplant.

Yeah, that's completely wrong. I think you're mis-remembering or confused. The tab was only so you couldn't record ONTO the tape. It had nothing to do with making a copy OF the tape. Trust me - I owned many machines and recorded many scenes from pre-recorded tapes, and there was no need to cover the tab ever.

BTW Brian R - my first ever recording was also TERROR AMONG US on the night it first aired. I didn't own a VCR yet, so I actually used one at my high school library. When I saw the commercial for that TV movie, I knew I wanted it to watch over and over again...

Interesting to think back about what was the first scene
you actually liked enough to purchase/trade for a
copy of the movie or tv show on a tape or record it yourself off the TV. I know what I went looking for once acquiring
internet access, (Batgirl, Diana Rigg, Penelope Pitstop)
but I haven't had a vcr in years. Would be interesting to
look back at what was the first scene i got on tape.
Back then it was me in the living room setting the vcr
to record a scene but make it look like i wasn't after
only the damsel in distress scene, in case someone else
found it later. I even used to code my VHS tapes in cryptic
phrases so nobody would guess what i was saving.

I'll have to pick up a used vcr and watch all my old tapes again unless I can figure out the cryptic phrases on them. LOL

Frank J is that you? I'm glad to see that you're still around. Yes, we traded tapes many times. You were very generous during trades. You gave me more scenes than I gave you in trades.

Ok, so I put tape over the tab unnecessarily. It didn't have a negative effect on the outcome. The scenes that I copied came out fine. There was no internet back then and I had nobody to consult with on the proper way to copy scenes. I couldn't ask the video store owner/manager. Hey, I'm renting this video looking for a bondage scene. Can you tell me how to make a copy of the scene if I find one? I knew some people that had more technical knowledge than I did. I would never tell them that I was collecting bondage scenes from rental tapes. How do I do this correctly? I was on my own trying to figure out what works. My system worked, even though I took an unnecessary step.
The first scene that I recorded was from Barnaby Jones. The episode where Lee Meriwether got kidnapped.

As long as I've still got some customers, I'll keep posting at least some alerts. It may not be this site's most important function anymore, but there's still fun in finding something new and pointing it out to people.

I've always wished she had had a proper gag somewhere along the way. The one on "Barnaby Jones" was laughably narrow, along the lines of "The Brain That Wouldn't Die."

I am a customer and also still value the alerts page and view it daily.
Thanks to all for the robust discussion under these topics.
I personally do not collect scenes, when my interests in damsels developed there were 3 broadcast tv stations and if the VCR had been invented by then I would not have learned about it anyway...

I've been hoping this show would produce. Would love to see Jenna Fischer gagged at some point...

Though, this show will likely be canceled immediately by the looks of it.

And that is the correct episode. Not exactly an effective gag. I'll correct the DB entry episode ID.

Before it aired in the US, it aired on BBC. If it gets cancelled here, it still could be picked up there.

That's funny. I bought my first vCR in 1980. If Terror Among Us wasn't my first recording, it was probably close to it. I remember recording scenes on an audio recorder before the VcR. Desperate I suppose. Lol
