At 2hrs 31mins (or about an hour into the second installment), cute co-star Atana (Ari Meyers) leads an unsuspecting Catherine (Seymour) into a boiler room, then reveals her true intentions as she holds her up at gunpoint. We next see Catherine bound to a wooden chair, hands cuffed behind and held very securely to the backrest with black rope, feet cuffed together between the chair legs, and being tightly OTM gagged onscreen with a plain white cloth. Atana then gives a typical villainess speech, ending with "Pity.... I really did like you". Since this is a true damsel-in-peril type of scene, the boiler has been rigged to blow up. When Atana leaves, Catherine starts to struggle furiously for the next 3mins, with some mmpphhing. Of course, she manages to get loose just in time by freeing her hands and feet onscreen, and running away with the gag still on her mouth. The whole scene lasts about 4mins, is very darkly lit, and features a great variety of close-ups and full-body views; lots of nice expressions from Catherine, who makes an effort to strain her neck against the gag and make it more look effective than it is. She wears a smart peach-coloured business outfit consisting of a coat, knee-length skirt (which rides up past her thighs in a sexy way when sitting on the chair) and cream-coloured high heels. |

I get that Peregrym and that blonde actress from Marshals get to sit in makeup for way less time then the cast of Friends or Locklear would have to do in the 90's because they want that "gritty" crime look. But Missy getting old and the blonde having jowls is counter arguing artifical intel and digital de-aging. |

The actual plot, if anyone has watched the film in full, is pretty good and full of twists. The original British film holds a very solid 81% on Rotten Tomatoes with four star ratings from several British publications. It just so happens to hold a lot of bondage in it. But the reason it gets remade over and over again is because of that. And side note, the record for most remakes is 24, Perfect Strangers. I'm sure we'd all be happy to see Alice Creed break that ;) |
