Record number: 250 Title: Caracara (AKA The Last Witness) (1999) Medium: Movie Actress: Natasha Henstridge Description: She plays a young woman who allows her apartment to be used as a vantage point by several men who claim to be FBI agents, only to find out that isn't true about 30 minutes in when they grab her from behind as she comes home one night. They hand-gag her and carry her over to a large birdcage on a four-legged metal stand, a corner of which they cuff her hands around before gagging her and binding her ankles with duct tape. She watches in terror, mmphing loudly, as one of the baddies pulls out a pistol and does away with his partners before stepping outside onto a balcony. Struggling fiercely, she manages to knock the birdcage off the stand, blocking the door and giving her time to drag the stand (the legs of which are crossbraced at the bottom so that she can't just slip the cuffs off it) over to where she can grab a cordless phone, into which she mmphs loudly after dialing 911. The sequence lasts about seven minutes. |

Long sequence, lots of closeups and lots of mmmphing as Beals tries to communicate with the bellboy (Tim Roth) who has stumbled in on her, then scenes with her gun-toting husband, Beals (still bound and gagged) and bellboy. Played for laughs. Prior to this, about 18' in, Roth hallucinates while viewing a Klaw-type photo. The two lingeried women ... one with wrists bound behind ... come to life in his delusion, and there's a little light spanking. A few seconds' worth of nostalgia. |

As the film moves toward its climax, there are several long shots-some deliberately out of focus-of her chained with her arms outstretched to a vertical stone slab. Once the final battle gets under way, we are treated to several close-ups of her chained to the slab as it progresses. |

About 40 minutes in, Rose, playing the eldest daughter, is held down and has a rag stuffed into her mouth while Nelligan burns her ankle with a hot poker to temporarily cripple her, so she won't be conscripted into the army. At about an hour and 25 minutes, Nelligan is arrested, being brought in for interrogation behind a donkey to which her hands are tied together in front. While two men on either side of her hold her arms, her shoes and stockings are stripped off and her feet are placed together between a rifle and sling. The sling is then rolled up onto the rifle, which is then raised to elevate her feet, the soles of which are then beaten by a third man with a stick. |

Freeman grabs Betty and binds her wrists in front with duct tape while his protege does the same with Rosa, adding a tape gag in her case. After her hometown sheriff and a male friend show up unexpectedly, the friend ends up sharing Rosa's predicament while Freeman leads Betty into a bathroom where he cuts the tape, but she takes a while to pull it off and part her hands. Trivia item: Database damsel Stacy Haiduk (The Beneficiary and TV's Superboy) was cast as an actress playing a nurse in the soap opera the movie's plot revolves around, but her scenes were deleted from the final release. |

She's very tightly cleave-gagged with what looks like a black leather strap, and she moans and wiggles quite a bit. Catherine, meanwhile, is stripped to a bra and panties and tied with her wrists above her head to a rope from the ceiling. Her ankles are tied to the ground and she is also gagged with a black leather strap. She also struggles mightily. However, the girls are rescued in the nick of time. A long scene, several minutes. |
