Record number: 12507 Title: Rome Medium: TV Series Actress: Lindsay Duncan Description: Episode: "Testudo et Lepus (The Tortoise and the Hare)" (2.4) About 27 minutes in, Servilia (Duncan) is shown kneeling in prayer while a man sneaks up on her from behind and slips a black hood over her head. Next we see her from behind, kneeling with her hands tied behind her back and still hooded in the dungeon of her archrival Atia (Polly Walker), whom she's unsuccessfully tried to murder by hiring someone to poison her. Atia has had Servilia abducted and brought before her to extract her revenge, which starts with pulling the hood off so she can taunt her captive face to face. There follows an implied sexual assault, evinced largely by the house servants reacting to her screams coming up from below. Then there is a very brief close-up shot of her midsection, as Atia's hired torturer applies a couple of strokes of the lash. Next we see her again from behind, her wrists tied together over her head. When Atia approaches her to ask if she's had enough, she raises her exceedingly bloody face to defiantly spit at her captor. Atia directs the torturer to continue, but he instead cuts the rope over Servilia's wrists and escorts her outside, where she scurries off with her hands still tied. |
