Record number: 1523 Title: Red, Hot and Blue (1949) Medium: Movie Actress: Betty Hutton Description: Betty Hutton has been kidnapped by Hair-Do Lempke (played by Frank Loessor -- yes, the song writer of Guys and Dolls fame) Her wrists are tied to the arms of a chair and she's cleave-gagged with a long thick white cloth. Her struggling alerts the hero (Victor Mature) to her plight, and during the ensuing fight scene she struggles mightily to get free. Even after Mature unties her she fights the bad guys with the gag still jammed in her mouth. Done for chuckles, but still effective. As she proved in "The Perils of Pauline," Hutton is an athletic actress. |
