You stirred it up good..terrific job bro! By the time I found your message and checked out the site it was already down. Appreciate the heads up. The biggest thing that would put me off about finding clips of my stuff on tube is the gawdawful picture quality. Do you think anyone would blame tube or the poster? Naw, they'd just say, glad I didn't get that Dave's movie..look at the shitty quality! A real burn considering how most of us pro producers bust our ass to get the guys the best quality material we can. Again, thanks for the heads up. Ain't it amazing how stealing a loaf of bread from a 7-11 to feed your starving family will get you years in jail, but stealing something a person spent hundreds, or even thousands of dollars, plus creativity on won't even get you a blink. |

I'd like to think that most people are used to there being a difference between the online quality and the original, and that when they see that telltale artifacting, they have an approximate idea where it came from. Not that the quality *has* to be a problem to the extent that we see so often on YouTube. You can take a DVD, make a 320x240 H.264 clip at high quality, toss it up on YouTube, and have it look surprisingly good even in their scaled-up and recompressed presentation. You can even download it and burn it back to DVD, and sure, you'll notice the quality difference, but not as much as you might think. The problem is that most of the stuff on YouTube was originally clipped long ago and/or by people who didn't know what the heck they were doing. |
