Thanks for the pointer -- it worked great after using ".rm". (It might be better to mark this entry as "Other" and note it as a short rather than "TV Movie," which made it sound like a regular available movie.) Anyway, thanks to you and the others who replied -- mystery solved! |

I was beginning to feel the same about my long posting on "The Fight Against Slavery" until you came along. Very glad to hear from you! No one on the net is to be trusted, of course, but I'm going to believe you. For one thing, you wouldn't have made the remark about scene creep if you were trying to lead me on; instead, you would have encouraged me in my delusion. Besides, you don't know who I am, either. I could be a member of the Anti-Slavery Society on some kind of weird sting operation, looking for guys who want to tie up topless native girls and prod them down a trail. Since I was a perfervid youth when I saw it and am an incipient old fart now, it's not to be wondered at that I've suffered some scene creep. In those days there was so little bondage stuff around; that scene was like a roast turkey dropped into a dinner of dead spiders. What I find most arousing NOW is your revelation that the girls' hands were really tied -- that they couldn't get loose until all the shooting was done. If, before I'm gathered unto my fathers, I ever actually get to watch the scene again, I'll certainly remember that! I really can't imagine why it hasn't been shown again. As I pointed out in my first post, it has all the attributes of a bien-pensant classic. In the city where I live, the public library has an enormous collection of old PBS documentaries and historical series. (For instance, they have "The Quest for the Nile", which was shot, I gather, about the same time and in the same part of the world as "Slavery".) Guess which one is among the few they're missing! So if you (OR ANYBODY ELSE WHO READS BRIAN'S PAGE) ever gets any idea of where I might find this scene, sing out! I'll pay handsomely for a copy. Meanwhile, great to hear from you. P.S.: In the same episode, a woman on a West Indian plantation was stripped to the waist, tied up AOH, and whipped. You have anything to do with THAT scene? |
