| Some more details after another look at this film: There is little or no dialog -- just a male's voice-over narration of a kind of semi-documentary look into this gang of Really Bad Girls who indulge in extensive drug use and distribution along with Lesbianism, white-slavery and prostitution.
The movie is a strange combination of "Reefer Madness" anti-drug paranoia and "I Led 3 Lives" (50's TV series) anti-Communist paranoia with a weird musical score. As an example, the narrator informs us that drug distribution is a Communist plot to undermine our morals -- orchestrated by Moscow and Peiping as it was then known. Back to the bondage: It is often brief but terrific, if on the sadistic side -- sometimes including a gag. The bondage is non-consensual and intended to in itself cause pain and humiliation or to restrain the girls to be able to inflict the same on them -- and thus keep them under Olga's tight control. The handcuff scenes are probably the best I've seen in a "mainstream" film -- although this movie stretches the boundaries of that categorization. One girl being punished tries desperately to escape from the handcuffs that lock her hands behind her back -- a brief but closeup shot of this futile effort is shown. She gives up trying to escape and is soon seen eating gruel from a dog-dish on the cell floor, hands still locked behind her of course (although the camera angle for this scene is not very good). We are told that she stays confined in that uncomfortable position for three days to break her spirit. The confinement and handcuffs have their intended effect and we next see her, humbled and humiliated, (having been released from her cell) visitng Olga. The opening shot of her visit to Olga is a close-up of her hands still handcuffed behind her back, a broken woman, dirty and disheveled as would be expected based on her treatment. Olga's takes pity on the girl for her suffering (which Olga ordered of course) and releases her from the handcuffs. Another scene has a girl being escorted, with her hands tied behind her back with white rope, through a door to visit Olga, who also frees this victim. There are some rough scenes involving inflicted electric shock and some impromptu dentistry on victims. At one point, some of Olga's girls revolt, taking the sadistic but somehow-alluring Olga captive. The handcuff her hands in front of her and attach them overhead. This scene is like the rest of the movie, somewhat choppy in continuity, and we do not see Olga released from this bondage, although she apparently is. Highly recommended for anyone who likes bondage or just really off-beat movies... |
