Record number: 8785 Title: Fantasy Island (1978) Medium: TV Series Actress: Joan Collins, Julie Sommars Description: Episode: "My Fair Pharoah/The Power" (3.2) Actresses are bound in BOTH plotlines. Ms. Collins, as Cleopatra, is spread-eagled as a sacrifice, ankles tied together. She isn't gagged. The episode aired on TV Land earlier today, and that ain't the way I saw it. Collins was taken captive about eight minutes in, her hands tied in front and added to a line of similarly bound female slaves. There wasn't any other bondage involving either her or the "real" Cleopatra elsewhere in the episode. I know TV Land has shaved scenes from shows in the past-their butchery of some of the Adventures of Superman episodes has been pointed out here, as has Barbara Eden's missing I Dream of Jeannie spreadeagle-to squeeze in more of today's longer commercials, but I don't even see how a sacrifice scene would have even fit into the plot of this episode. They'd have had to cut plenty more from it in addition to the scene in order to keep it from being missed. However, I can't dismiss the possibility out of hand since the author of the database entry got the description of Sommars' scenes right, which would argue against "scene creep" with respect to Collins. At any rate, the initial hand-tying should be added, and I'll check back to see what comes up with regard to the rest of it. By the way, if the rest of Collins' database entries are correct, she did something 13 years ago that we thought no damsel had done. Details to follow over on Discussion. |

I have no idea whether such a scene ever existed. |
